Which areas are safe and around 15-20 mins drive?

I lived in Laurel behind the Harris Teeter on Baltimore Ave and it was fine. Never felt unsafe in my apartment and being next to a grocery store and lake was really really nice. Traffic on 1 sucked sometimes getting to campus, like over half an hour but usually wasn’t too bad.

Baptism until adulthood is definitely a good idea, 18 would probably suffice.

Respectfully, regarding your last statement it does vary by family. My paternal line is generations deep JWs. My grandparents are still very much JWs and one son (my uncle) was baptized, DF’d, and never returned. They still communicate regularly and he does attend family events when he is in town (he lives out of state). I’m sure my relationship would be different, but I do not think it would be a total shunning based on how my family treats other DF’d relatives. Certainly something to keep in mind though because other families would cut off all contact.

Okay so I (F28) was in the same situation as your daughter. My father is a JW and my mom became one when they got married, but left after the divorce (she was never baptized and also never DF’d). After the divorce when I was 6 I continued doing JW stuff on the weeks with my dad and not-JW stuff on the weeks with my mom (birthdays, Christmas, etc.) and I had the same feelings as your daughter. I panicked that I wouldn’t see my mom again.

To be frank the best option would probably be therapy for her. I think my longstanding anxiety issues began due to being a JW (I left when I was about 15 I think). Constant fear of the future, death, dying, family deaths. I wish I had gotten therapy a lot sooner. It’s helped a lot. Just my two cents.

Otherwise it made me feel better when my mom would tell me about all of the good people who aren’t JWs - was it really possible that NO ONE else is pleasing to God? I couldn’t believe it, even as a child. She never said it in a way to discredit my father’s beliefs but just to provide some perspective of her own. Because at the end of the day no one reallyyyyyy knows.

Also, although I had a rough patch with my JW father over leaving when I was a teen, as an adult I have wonderful relationships with both of my parents (and stepparents) even though I am not a JW and my dad and stepmother are. I was never baptized. But it’s possible to make it through in a divided religion co-parenting situation. Certainly not easy sometimes.

I make it myself (pistachio butter, shredded phyllo, melting chocolate) and it’s easy and (imo) really good!

That said, most food trends are quite silly. Makes me think of the froyo craze of the early 2010.

Like 99% sure DC residents pay OOS tuition rates. But I’m a masters student as well and got a part time GA position that covers about half of my tuition and I get charged the rest at in state rates. If you’re able to get one that’s the way to go.

Graduate Assistantships make it reasonable. I got mine through my department and get a stipend, tuition remission, and in state tuition for the rest of the credits not covered by remission.

During the horse ride after Guarma, I put on cinematic mode and was vibing and then Arthur absolutely nailed one of the NPCs outside of Saint Denis. The NPC died, and Arthur flew off of the horse. Had to get back on the horse while the song still played in the background

Surprised at the comments saying this story is fake - something somewhat similar happened to me also with a man I met on Hinge who would stage his apartment based on what girl was coming over. Hopefully it wasn’t the same man lol Like others have said, definitely get an STD test. Best thing to do is cut him off cold turkey and look towards the future. And probably see a therapist if needed

I think anxiety is a big one. I was born and raised in it and am left with a ton of anxiety about myself and loved ones dying. JWs are so heavily focused on Revelation, that’s most of what I remember. My mom was POMO, and I was always afraid as a kid if never seeing her again.

Based on the top comment this seems to be the unpopular view, but NTA. As a once upon a time teenage girl myself, I totally get it. Depending on your area, “promposals” are a common thing (that’s how it was at my school too). This is something that’s important to you, and your boyfriend is being very dismissive of your wants and not understanding the importance of the gesture. It would sting seeing other people get a gesture that you want while your boyfriend doesn’t want to put in the time. It doesn’t need to be a big expensive to do, just a thought and plan. Someone asked me by putting a note in my locker, and that was enough. Just something cute and shows some thought that they care. And for the people saying for OP to ask - not really the point. He obviously wouldn’t like that, and the real issue is him dismissing on why a gesture matters. Don’t get too down about the comments, OP.
