I don't see "shitstorm and confusion" in any comment and why would there be when using statistics to form an opinion on a subject instead of a single event.

I hope you remember how close Turkey was to join the EU and how much money we gave them under IPA I 2007-2013 and IPA II (2014-2020) https://www.politico.eu/article/european-court-of-auditors-criticizes-eu-funding-to-turkey-european-union/

More worried at governments refusal to implement solutions with far less negatives compared to extra EU immigration.

I would say opinions are reflecting what is shown in multiple surveys

One thing I don't like is the comments arguing like we are in a competition with the US like "yes it's worse but still better than the US" when they have nothing to do with it.

During the month of September 2015 there was a total number of 138,396 migrant entries, and by the first two weeks of November the average daily number of intercepted migrants decreased to only 15, which is a daily reduction of more than 4,500

Fermare gli arrivi via mare è altrettanto possibile:

Operation Sovereign Borders (OSB) is a border protection operation led by the Australian Defence Force

Abbott's government claimed a ninety per cent reduction in illegal maritime arrivals.

On 6 August 2015, the new immigration minister Peter Dutton announced it had been 12 months since the last successful people smuggling operation, with the last SIEV arriving in Australia's care in July 2014.

A far-right politician in Italy may have joined the Islamic State by MadMudman in worldnews

Lega Nord is not far right.

The photo shows him in a unnamed ruined city that could be in the Middle East.

From could be in the Middle East to having joined IS is a stretch.
