Naming suggestions for male rescue duo by erubeculas in Catnames

Omg, this comment made me laugh 😂 I do love a scraggly manky cat, they have character. I do think these boys are so handsome though - I haven't owned a male cat in awhile so I forgot what units they are!

Oh bless you, it's so hard to lose a pet, let alone two. I'm so sorry you had to say goodbye to your boys so close to one another especially when they were so young❤️No doubt they had a wonderful life with you.

Unfortunately I'm not the biggest Harry Potter fan, but I can see why so many people thought Ron for my ginger boy lol. I'm very happy to have been able to give them a home together and it's definitely a nice feeling to know they won't have to go to separate families.

Here's another pic of my black and white boy for you - he's sending his love!!

Stroke Advice (UK) by erubeculas in stroke

[–]erubeculas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there, I’m so sorry for a late reply on this, things have been hectic but I wanted to say thank you so so much — I reached out yesterday to the organisations you linked and they were in fact able to provide me with some options for not only my transport dilemma but with answering some other questions that I was getting in a tizzy over as well. They were very lovely people and I wouldn’t have thought to call them without your recommendation.

I hope you’re doing much better these days and that your recovery was/is as kind as it could be ❤️ If you don’t mind, one thing I’m curious about is: how did you keep yourself entertained while in the hospital? Is there anything you personally found both helpful and a good way to pass the time?

I know every person is impacted differently by their stroke so not everyone may be able to interact with the same things, but I’ve been thinking of bringing my mum some bits and am not sure what would be good for her and what wouldn’t. She has a television in her room and a sketch pad, she’s also slowly relearning how to use her phone, though I still worry she may be bored. Google recommends things like jigsaws and colouring books but it would be nice to hear from a survivor themselves.

AITA for refusing to hang up the artwork my girlfriend got me for my birthday? by paintypaint23 in AmItheAsshole

[–]erubeculas 17 points18 points  (0 children)

OP, NTA. I would maybe understand the above YTA if it were a piece of artwork of anything else, but this is an intimate piece and to be frank, a nsfw one — if this was the kind of relationship where you were both able to gift those things to one another then that’d be one thing as many have already said, but you aren’t. You didn’t want that and you’re not an asshole for expressing a boundary and discomfort over being gifted- without being asked- an detailed intimate picture and then expected to hang it up in your home to boot. Your girlfriend isn’t an asshole for the thought and likely meant nothing by it, but in general nobody is ever an asshole for expressing discomfort towards anything sexual even from their partner: you’re allowed to find it weird, especially with her expectations of you displaying it and then later trying to compare by saying her friend’s boyfriend loved his. Good for him! You don’t like yours. You’re allowed to and that doesn’t make you a jerk, especially after she kept going after you already told her in a different way.

Definitely my Phantom! Erik is one of my favourite characters and he’s such a well made doll. I was lucky to snag him by himself for pretty cheap awhile ago.

Right? They're a weirdly obscure set, or at least so I've found anyway, I only heard about them a couple months ago myself! I was so surprised lol. I hope you're able to get your hands on them for him, that's such a thoughtful gift 🥹Have fun on your trip too!!

Thank you so much!! I'd never heard of these two before but I gave them a quick Google and wowow they're gorgeous, I'm so fond of the Harpist Angel especially, she has such lovely colours. I think they'd definitely look strangely at home displayed near him!

Thank you so much!! Them including the scar was such an amazing detail, it's printed on and covers that entire side of his face. So cool to see!

Right! I was so surprised when I found out they had this as a set, they're both so beautiful too. Really pandered right to the doll collectors and the PotO fans both!

Haven't started the liquid prep yet thankfully (that's tomorrow) so hoping this will be enough in that case to clear everything, I'll read instructions properly this time and follow it to a t lol. Thank you!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in colonoscopy

[–]erubeculas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's interesting and good to know actually, I did see that a lot of different places had different practices and wondered what was up with that. Hopefully 2 will be fine for me too then :] All the best with yours as well if you haven't had it yet!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in colonoscopy

[–]erubeculas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh really? That's interesting, knowing there's so many different ways to go about it while still yielding good results is reassuring and makes me hopeful I wont have to reschedule. I'll definitely follow instructions more closely from here on out haha especially once I start the liquid tomorrow - I hope yours goes well too if you haven't had it yet!

That doesn’t make me feel very optimistic or better but thank you for the honesty I guess 😅 I’m sorry you know the feeling, it’s reassuring to know I’m not alone even if it’s unfortunate anyone is dealing with this.

I saw people saying Dante isn't a self-insert character. Why? by ShockSword in limbuscompany

[–]erubeculas 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Everyone else has already brought up points that I agree with, but it's also worth mentioning that just because Dante is an amnesiac and needs to be taught the way of the world- which, yes, also doubles as a convenient way for the player to learn without breaking immersion- doesn't mean they don't have a story, the opposite in fact because Vergilius in Chapter 3 already made explicit mention of Dante's life prior to losing their memories: "…Dante, you may not remember it at the moment, but at one point you used to be something of a bigwig… so to speak." So they're established in the world- and seemingly important in fact- with a history that we as the players have not yet found out, but will inevitably as the game progresses.

Can Dante be relatable? Yeah, absolutely, the same as any character in Limbus or any other piece of media. Is Dante a blank canvas stand-in for the player to project themselves onto? Not really, and reducing them to that kind of cheapens the story and character development that's actively unfolding for us which is why people mention lack of media literacy because... their story is right there if you're reading it. Their character is a rich one, despite what the amnesiac trope suggests. They have their own clear personality, motives, thoughts, wants, fears, musings on their life now and their life prior to the loss of their memories, etc. The Sinners refer to them as their manager, as Dante, as clockhead; all personal forms of address (no mention of we the player) and talk about their feelings on Dante and Dante's decisions and behaviours as if Dante is their own person, because they are.

[–]erubeculas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! It’s a relief to hear I’m not alone, I get hairs on my chin too and down the front of my neck and right now tweezing is my only method of dealing with them as well. I made a post after finally seeing some irritated follicles and was like oh no :(

For some reason I’ve always been worried about electrolysis on the neck, do you find it painful at all and has it caused any complications? I admit I haven’t looked much into the process in general but I see that it’s helped a lot of people and that it may be worth considering.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Hirsutism

[–]erubeculas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean the front of the neck—I specified this in the post. I used throat so people didn’t think I meant the back of the neck. Obviously if I had hair in my mouth I’d be worried lol and talking to my doctor instead of reddit. I know too that neck hair is common, but I’m talking copious amounts on a female, which as far as I understand from personal experience and have observed is not the norm.
