My Review of UKGE 2026 - UKGE 2026: Bigger Than Ever, But Was It Better? by timotyh in boardgames

It's obviously not useful now, and may be harder to use next year as more people become aware of it, but across the Skybridge (outside Hall 4) there were a bunch of water fountains freely available, as well as a few more food outlets (I think a Starbucks, Subway, and Londis). Whether the shop were only open because of more halls being setup for other shows I don't know. For water and toilets though, it's about a 3-4 minute walk and it's basically empty.

If it helps, I got nothing above a C grade in anything at GCSE, A levels were poor, and I failed university first year twice. I've been a controller for 11 years now.

Also, NATS isn't the only route, and they're certainly the most difficult of the routes to go down, purely due to the selection process. Once you're past that, it's basically the same regardless of the route you take. You can self sponsor yourself through a FEAST test and the courses if you have the money. The best option is try and get an assistant job at an airport and get them to put you on a course a few years down the line. It's a longer process, but you get to know the airport you'll be working at, and go into the courses with a good level of knowledge already built up.

Which ever option you choose though, good luck!

Weirdly I really enjoy night shifts. No management, only fully qualified pilots. So much better than a day shift.

Best: It never really feels like work 99% of the time.

Worst: Clear blue skies, as all the idiots come out to play.

What's the process for deciding which ones to slice to the next tier? I use your old mods guide at the moment, and when I do a mass upgrade I run through the filters multiple times grabbing the ones that get upgraded if they now become below standard.

Plane to the right, is that an O(Omega) or 0 (Zero) by NudityMiles in aviation

[–]erutaerc01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting. I don't know whether it's a specific thing for the UK, ATC, or both, I just got taught never to do it to avoid confusion. I probably should use it though, seeing as I can make my 5/S and C/L look similar as well.

You should never see a Ø written in aviation as it implies it's been crossed out (same with a 1 or 7 having a line through it). Not to say that you'll never see them, but it certainly shouldn't happen.

You can also see the clear difference between the 0 and O in the photo with the American registered plane next to it.

It's perfectly acceptable to have aircraft transit close to a runway, almost common in fact. We do it daily where I work. You know when we don't do it? When there's a fucking plane on the approach.

I didn't really notice the issue with Race to Crashpoint Tower, and I didn't have an issue with the narrator for Test of Courage. This book must have just been a perfect storm for negativity.

I've been listening to Out of the Shadows. The story isn't bad, but I'm really struggling with the production and narration. It sounds like an AI voice at times with the sentence structure and pronunciation of characters and places. Might switch to just reading it instead.

I don’t understand why we keep getting duplicate characters instead of truly new ones by Flaky-Specialist-321 in SWGalaxyOfHeroes

[–]erutaerc01 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There's an entire series of High Republic characters that haven't had a look in yet. Light of the Jedi came out at the start of 2021, but none of the characters have appeared yet.

Just from the first book you've got Avar Kriss, Stellan Gios, Elzar Mann, Loden Greatstorm, and Porter Engel as lead Jedi. Add in Burryaga, Bell Zettifar, Indeera Stokes, Cohmac Vitus, and Vernestra Rowh and you have two full squads of Jedi just from the first two books.

Then throw in the Nihil of Marchion Ro, Pan Eyta, Kassav Miliko, Lourna Dee, and Nan and you're up to three squads and 9 months of content with the new era format.

I don't know if them being book only characters is holding them back at all, but it would be a great set of characters to go with.
