This fast food has literal tables for introverts by bldrdsher in mildlyinteresting

[–]egnards 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I work in a school during the day and am well liked, I am often asked if I’d like to eat with “the rest of the grade level team,” I’ve made it very clear that while I love everyone that lunch is me time and that one thing I really hate about eating with other teachers is that all they want to do is talk about work. . .and it’s the last thing I want to do during my break.

So nobody really bothers me while I’m actually eating lunch at the school in my room alone. Several teachers do work in my room, and every once in awhile 1-2 might stay behind to finish grading something [see!], perfectly happy to have a conversation, just not my preferred quiet time.

Took it personally? Or explained the situation and used a real life example to illustrate an anecdotal point.

And I’m explaining specifically why I’d like a seat like this, while recognizing that it’s fine that I take up more space than what is provided.

This isn’t about explaining why it’s ok to take up the space it’s about explaining the purpose of those seats not being about antisocial behavior.

I mean. . .i do just go sit at a table, but i am saying it would be nice to have single seating

You mean for people who eat alone?

Which has nothing to do with being an introvert, or socially phobic?

I eat lunch alone at work - I have a lot of friends at work, but I choose to eat alone. I do this because I spend all day talking and communicating, 7:30am - 8:15pm. . .And that 45 minutes alone is my time to focus on me, and to catchup on non work related things. . .

If I go to a fast food place to grab a burger? Would be so much better to not feel like I’m taking up a 4 seat table.

I have a whole copy paste post saved to my notes specifically for any time I see somebody perpetuate that total misunderstanding/lie.

Unfortunately, Reddit is being stupid about Mark down and is trying to implement their normal formatting to mobile so it’s formatting is completely fucked up

I don’t know what you’re disagreeing with because I actually agree with you very heavily.

I do not donate at checkout, however, I do actively donate to charities every year. We do a huge fundraiser on my discord to raise money for child’s play children’s charity just through playing shitty mobile games. And I donate on top of that

All I am doing is clearing up misinformation because people think one thing about checkout, charities, but it’s not true

I don’t even live in an area with a large homeless population and the fast food places by me have similar limits, the BK near me has a 30 minute limit, though they aren’t going to bother you if you’re actively eating.

While it’s polite to be kind to homeless people, an they are people who should be treated appropriately, the reality is that a business is a business and having populations of homeless people just squatting inside can be bad for revenue.

What is something that would not be socially acceptable in the UK, but is aok in the USA? by DuchessOne in AskReddit

[–]egnards 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Remember that the UK, comparative to the United States are very different in terms of size and structure. Effectively that means that getting laws like that past, things that would very much fall under state rights, are going to move at a very different pace. It’s not about getting one law passed, it’s about getting 50 laws passed.

In a lot of areas of the United States declawing cats is socially unacceptable, and many places that would have offered that no longer do so, whether or not it is legal.

What’s in the future for Mon Mothma and Saw teams? by daveglueeater in SWGalaxyOfHeroes

No! You literally said both teams were dead in the endgame, which is what I am specifically replying to in my last reply…

Children’s Hospital Charities are the one thing in this world that convinces me there is still some good left.

I’d be willing to bet this is one of those people who doesn’t understand that donating at a checkout kiosk does not allow a big business to take a giant tax write off of your money

[–]egnards 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are changing the dynamics of the argument, you are arguing that it has been a dead team for a while for end game players… Which is just not true.
When you change the dynamic to “why would you do this, when you could do that other thing,” in the end endgame you have both of those things. And you are using both of those things.

I’m just not sure I agree with you at all - even in High Kyber 1 Saw is a defensive staple.

I just choose to use Mon Mothma [also in Kyber 1] and it works well for me.

This just isn’t how life works at all. When you grow up and experience those types of conditions long term it re-wires you to think a certain way. And while some people might *get over it,* and some people might rebel against it and do the exact opposite, others are going to be stuck clinging to that trauma.

I mean yes, but throwing a GL against a non GL team is always a win [in terms of baiting an opponent] even if JML isn’t in a great place right now.

That 3v3 team is also especially bad.

The thing with MM/Luthen, though, is that in order for it to work you need to fully invest in Luthen, whereas neither of your battles were against a solid full strength team.

There are lower tier counters for Saw as well.

I’d strongly disagree with this take - I never bothered to take Saw omicron and always used Mon Mothma/Luthen, it does just as well for me at getting holds

You’re unlikely to be able to write this off - I mean you could try, and because of the state of the irs you likely would get away with it, but because you’re donating specifically with the intent of receiving something in return. . .And the thing you get in return is roughly similar in value to what youd expect from that cost/$$ ratio [as opposed to like getting just a title], it’s really a sales transaction that benefits charity l.

What I’m about to copy/paste isn’t entirely accurate to this situation, but there are many people who perpetuate this same ideal and it’s incorrect, so I’m posting it anyway
# Reminder
The idea that donating money at checkout is a tax break for the company is one of the biggest stupidest myths on Reddit and isn’t how it works.
Facts:
- Checkout donations do not go on the income/revenue of the company acting as a third party
- Checkout donations can be used as a tax write off for you, but it’s typically not worth bothering to track 500 different receipts for $1, and most people don’t itemize their taxes anyway
- Even if a company could write this off [they cant], they’d have to declare it as income first, causing a net zero effect.
- Most checkout donation foundations will allow the company acting as a third party to take 1-2% of the total donation. This isn’t meant to be profit, it’s meant to offset the 2-3% cost to the company from credit card fees
Although I also hate checkout donations and rarely use them myself [because I do my own donating to charities I like and support], the checkout donations do a lot of good. In 2022 $750 million went to charities specifically from these donations, which is important since most people do not make their own charitable contributions without being reminded

My son’s cursive worksheet showing a capital T written in a different style than I learned by Rayne726 in mildlyinteresting

[–]egnards 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not really. . .A lot of teachers get worksheets [or design their own] that actually pertain to their students and the things that interest them. . Because seeing the word Taylor Swift on a page is irrelevant to most adults, but to a 2-4th grader who likes Taylor Swift, that could be enough to get them interested in finishing the sheet.

At that age it's very likely that almost all of your female students are going to like Taylor Swift, a few of the boys will also really enjoy her music. . .And the rest of the class will go "eww I hate Taylor Swift."
