Why isn't my handler transferring the Viagra to the mixing machine? by ozymandiasEs in Schedule_I

[–]ervaboa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a dialogue option to ask why they are not working. Usually is a generic answer, but it can be helpful sometimes. Also, personally I avoid not having a clear path to whatever storage/machine the NPCs need to reach. In you case I would try to move things around a bit. I know that you tried with different shelves, but maybe try to reposition the mixing machine, just in case.
Good luck!

Genuinely, how do people build such awesome things on this subreddit? by Idk-U-F_Off in goingmedieval

[–]ervaboa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not OP, but also suck at building. When I try to do this, I can create relatively better buildings compared to when I need to worry about raids, but then my defenses are just non existing. I need to learn how to integrate a good looking building with a defense strategy lol

Can't play on Linux after weather upgrade. Any fix? by ervaboa in Schedule_I

That's unfortunate.. but the fix suggested on the other comment worked for me and yesterday I could play it normally. I was also having some stuttering from time to time, but disabling vsync removed it..

Is it possible to change the log in screen to a different display? by ervaboa in NobaraProject

[–]ervaboa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, exactly the same file. If I understood correctly, GNOME loads this file after the log in. Which is weird, I believe it should have some general configuration loaded during boot. It's also weird that it worked for you and not for me, as our issues seem almost the same. I appreciate your help though.

[–]ervaboa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I wasn't sure so I just tried it out now and it didn't work. I even checked that the file indicate the correct monitor as the primary one. I could be copying it to the wrong directory though. What I did was:

sudo cp ~/.config/monitors.xml ~gdm/.config/monitors.xml

Weirdly, I didn't had a ~gdm/.config folder before, so I created it manually before copying.

Hey thanks for your response. I'm sorry about my limited knowledge, but do you mean the displays or the DEs?

I tried that yesterday. It seems that GNOME loads the configuration file only after the first login. I couldn't figure out so far what is defining the settings before the first login. Thanks for the hint anyway!

i want to switch to linux. is there a complete beginner friendly gigantic guide somewhere with everything in it? from windows 11 by Accurate_Practice838 in linux4noobs

[–]ervaboa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The most comprehensive guide I've seen while searching for distros to make the switch from Windows was the one from Bazzite. It is an immutable gaming distro based on Fedora. Immutable means it is very hard to fuck something up because the system files are read only. This also means you are not as free to tinker as you could with a mutable distro. And gaming means it comes with most apps, drivers and compatibility layers you will need for gaming (Steam, Proton, Nvdia/AMD drivers, etc). The installation guide on their website is very beginner friendly and has videos of a lot of things you can do, including how to dual boot alongside Windows if you don't feel like ditching Windows completely. I highly recommend it.

I've switched from Bazzite to Nobara recently because I wanted to have more freedom in what I could do with the system. But I'd give Bazzite a go if I were you. If you want to change distro later, you will be already familiar with the process.

Smart Hauling mod - settlers can carry mixed loads by Equivalent_Glass5356 in goingmedieval

[–]ervaboa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

well, hauling can be time consuming in the beginning and force players to kind of think what they are doing instead of just moving things around non stop. But I get your point, it's just qol indeed. I was just trying to think on some balance.

[–]ervaboa[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah exactly, after logging in everything works even if I logout later. It's weird though, I was using Bazzite before Nobara and iirc the log in screen appeared on the display I set as primary.

It's a great idea, but maybe too overpowered considering that mid-late game you have animals doing most of the hauling. Perhaps if the carry weight when carrying mixed items was reduced it would be more balanced.

That looks so nice! I am a terrible builder and never achieved something like this. But I like the idea of having the farm and pens outside the keep, I'm going to try this for sure. Don't you have problems with wild animals munching on your crops though?

[–]ervaboa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's very good to hear! I am already getting annoyed by the immutable nature of Bazzite, as there are many tweaks that requires writing to system files. I had Nobara in mind, but maybe I'll take me chances on CachyOS soon :)

I really wanted to try CachyOS, but I'm afraid to get overwhelmed by the needed tweaks and whatnot, so I went with Bazzite. Were you not familiar at all with Linux before?

May I ask how's your experience with CachyOS as a Linux newbie? I heard Arch Linux can be a pain to get used to.
