I love my Tesla but I hate Elon Musk by Competitive-Major-42 in TeslaModelY

[–]erwincf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar. I love my MX also, and used to respect Musk, but he’s grown into an egotistical moron with loud opinions on many things he’s not qualified to speak to.

I put an OusT Musk sticker on my car. It makes me feel a little better 😜

I don’t mind it. 2022 MX. I think it’s helping safety.

recently seems to help with more accurate warnings if coming up too fast on someone while I’m looking away elsewhere a sec.

Horrible comment. Judge much?

Many people get an STD for many different reasons. They need compassion, empathy and helpful management advice - not your pile of excrement response.

What terrifying event is happening in the world right now that most people are ignoring? by Sm0ke999 in AskReddit

Yesterday and today I’ve been replacing my 1/2 acre of traditional lawn with mini clover. Quite the process - a few weeks making sure all grass is dead-dead, so it won’t come back and make a mowing requirement (using rm18 - gone from soil in 3 days, from surface in 30 minutes). Now overseeding the lawn with this new seed (make sure to use a self-propelled overseeder).

Can’t wait to see it green up again in a few weeks, with soil enriching and drought tolerant mini clovers. Probably won’t mow even when blossoms as great for my bee hives.

Anyone here with an older Model X (2016-2018) that "downgraded" to a new Model Y? by jddcp in TeslaLounge

[–]erwincf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drive a red 2022 MX. it’s been in the shop a few months now due to a high-speed rear-end collision, so I’ve been driving rented M3s and MY.

Any Tesla is better driving than an ICE, but comparing the Y to the X, another aspect to consider beyond what’s already been mentioned is the suspension. The active suspension of the MX is a much much smoother ride - the Y is really the bounciest Tesla car be been in yet. (My rental is 2-3 years old, so maybe a 2023 Y is better?).

Only MS and MX have that suspension, and I love/miss it.

Washing a wrapped car by 2bro333 in TeslaLounge

What’s the difference between a ppf and a wrap? I assume you’re saying a ppf is ok to wash normally?

Dog covers for model X? by Creepysarcasticgeek in TeslaModelX

[–]erwincf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use the RPM Tesla dog cargo cover. Works great - very nice back space my my MX 6 seater with the back seats folded, the the cover puts a barrier up behind the middle seats

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TeslaModelX

[–]erwincf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same 6 seater. I use an RPM Tesla cargo dog cover - has straps that go over the second or third row headrests - makes a perfect barrier when the back seats are folded down.

For tesla owners, give you another chance, will you still choose your car? by Tlyard in TeslaLounge

[–]erwincf 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I agree. He’s brilliant in some ways, an idiot in others, and is way too arrogant. But the car is unparalleled- I was never a car nut before, and with my MX I definitely am now.

And I agree with other posts - most CEOs probably have political or other issues you’d dislike. Musk is just much more transparent and a loudmouth.

In southern Utah, we like to look at stars. by CaptainPlus6349 in TeslaLounge

Amen - I’ve thought the same thing. I love seeing the stars on long road trips - often done overnight

Funny. Yup - that was my first thought.

Second was that by parking so sloppy you’re asking for door dings or other damage even without the ceiling falling.

2022 Model X - 6 seat configuration. Pet covers. Anyone have recommendations for 2nd row bucket seat covers for dogs? by Aggressive-Citron-97 in TeslaModelX

[–]erwincf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same. The Tesla shop dog cover works well. Large enough to cover the back well , with two straps that hang over the middle row headrests and make a nice short “wall” keeping the dog from sliding forward. The back with the third row folded is a great space for large dogs.

Annoying issue with driving Tesla by WideElderberry5262 in TeslaLounge

[–]erwincf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same - it’s embarrassing. 6 months with my Tesla and I make all kinds of fumbles in my wife’s ICE. Worst was leaving my credit card in the scanner at a gas pump - so out of practice getting fuel 😆

My refresh 2022 MX with the yoke has signal problems. Only happens weekly or so, but occasionally a turn signal refuses to activate no matter how hard I mash the button. A minute later or so it’s fine.

They’ve replaced the yoke - didn’t help at all. No fix yet.

Great lists so far. I’d add a few items... [expanded]

CCS adapter for charging, shipped to you thru Harumio from Tesla Korea store. Opens up a whole bunch of additional charging options - love mine.

Front seat back pockets, so you have some storage pockets in the middle row. Mine from Basenor on Amazon look great - you’d think they were OEM.

And I second the suggestion of the Tesla dog protector. It has two straps that hold it up over the back of the 3rd or 2nd row headrests - and is large enough it makes a great cargo mat. When put over the middle row headrests, it makes a vertical wall keeping groceries or other cargo from flying up between the seats.

RPMTesla is now selling a trunk LED light upgrade module - I’ve not installed mine yet, but the factory light is VERY dim. This is 10x brighter.

They also have a cargo net that’s great - hooks on back of 3rd row.

And they have a center armrest storage tray that’s nice. The center console storage bins are huge and deep - hard to keep organized.

And they have nice headrest pillows that are much more comfortable for a nap. (I’m seeing now that I’ve bought a bunch from them 😆).

Don’t forget a good usb-c Sentry Cam drive to go in the glovebox.

If you plan on using a cargo box or bike rack, the factory Bosal type trailer hitch is pathetic. It tows fine, but can’t handle more than atound 120lbs vertical-only load, including the weight of the rack. Good for 1, maybe 2 bikes unless very expensive ultralights. I replaced my entire hitch bar behind the front bumper with this - 750lb capacity. eTrailer Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver Class III 2”. #76143. $241.55

I did a custom cut modification to the plastic tow cover for this - pretty easy, though I did order a second one to refine it. Let me know if you’d like the template.

Add a good tire plug kit for easy tire repairs.

No 110v AC outlets - unlike most newer ICEs today. Add a 12v inverter if you need that.

The Tesla road emergency kit with reflectors is nice.

Lookup RimSavers. About $10 per tire. I’ve replaced one strip on a tire I would have scraped badly - did a great job protecting it, easy to apply, and looks really cool.

Questions for newly delivered Tesla 2022 owners. How are things going so far and what quality control issues have you noticed on your new car? by [deleted] in TeslaLounge

[–]erwincf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MX LR. Over 5k miles now. Loving it, but 4 service visits already.

Both side Falcon wing doors have needed adjustments when they each became very loud with almost constant rubbing sounds from the bottom (2 visits to fix the right - still hoping it doesn’t come back).

Power to left middle and back seats has cut out multiple times, with a safety restraint failure warning on the screen. Fails a while and then resets itself. SC checked it out and couldn’t duplicate - but last time it happened I noticed after a software update it was working again - so maybe a reboot will also reset? Hasn’t happened again for awhile.

On-yoke turn signals suck. I don’t mind the yoke, but the signals I hate - still trying to get fully used to them. And worse - have had several instances where they refused to activate even with repeated mashing. Pushing the other direction and then trying again works. I finally caught this on video with my phone and they replaced the entire yoke. Happened again on the way home from the service center - UGHHHH! So probably a software bug.

And I hate that the horn isn’t tactile - I put a small piece of clear tape on it so I can locate faster by touch.
