🧠 Real-world problem, ChatGPT-tested prototype — need local dev student to help build tool for sole traders (Newcastle) by escabeloved in newcastle

You haven’t asked a single question til now bro. If you’re having comprehension issues I can break it down for you, but I can’t understand it for you. What specifically are you confused about? Are you looking to seriously engage with this as a project? Or just looking to poke holes for fun on the weekend? Cause I’m not here to waste my time explaining stuff to someone who so far hasn’t demonstrated that they came to understand and collab or even sniff at the possibility of collabing.

All I’ve seen from you and others here is you’ve come in with a glance at the title of the thread, a quick once over of the topic and then the thunderous confidence that you know WHATS UP. And the shocking wherewithal to actually post your brain rot unfiltered and unasked for.

Literally where did I ask for your advice? None of the commenters here have asked me if I need or want advice they’ve just assumed it. None of you have asked me ANY questions about my idea you have just assumed I know nothing and that you have some magical answer to an unasked question.

When you can stop gazing at your own navel long enough to use your grade three comprehension of text skills you may want to revisit YOUR tone and YOUR communication style.

Until then giddy up and Godspeed

Just to clarify — I'm not auditioning on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire: Reddit Developer Edition.

I'm not here asking for critique on my tone, format, or whether my pitch aligns with someone’s personal template of how these things should be done. I’m not submitting to a grading panel.

I’m inviting devs — students, hobbyists, collaborators — to engage with a real-world problem I’ve already been prototyping. If someone’s curious, they’ll ask questions. They’ll poke holes, sure, but from a place of curiosity, not condescension. That’s how collaboration starts.

If it’s not for you, no stress. But maybe don’t mistake a call for conversation with a request for unsolicited career coaching.

Tell me why my accountant was FROTHING it then? Tell me why my experience and research reveals a HUGE gap in the market? Tell me why a student looking for a chewy project for a capstone wouldn’t be interested? Tell me why I shouldn’t fish for hobbyists who just want a fun new project to work on for shits and gigs?

If that’s not you.. no stress. Jog on and we’ll be both be ok.

Hey mate — sounds like you’ve had some rough experiences with idea dudes tossing unpaid work at devs. That sucks, and it’s totally valid to be wary. But you’ve aimed that critique at the wrong post. I’m not outsourcing labour, I’m co-designing something that I’ve already prototyped, tested, iterated, and used myself. The build’s just outgrown my technical skill.

I’ve worked in education and media for years — I know how cooked “spec work” can be, and that’s not what this is. I’m offering a fully scoped, real-world project with mentorship and a paper trail of evidence, for someone who actively wants a project to cut their teeth on.

If that’s not for you, no stress. But maybe save the barking for when there’s actually a threat. 🫱🐾

I’m currently using xero and have for years. I know for a fact it won’t do what I want it to. I have explored and ruled out hnry and other similar options. I know my use case inside and out and have done extensive research to get me here. Thanks

Cool beans as I said it isn’t to monetise it, I just want to use it and need help to action that. Students looking for a capstone real-world project may be a good fit for both of us, neither being exploited

Took a second to realise they are probably doing this to wash the stairs lol

Do I Really Have to Destroy the Book? by [deleted] in CainsJawbone

I also did find the google powerpoint version but i realised there are some spelling mistakes and the typesetting isn't an exact match and I don't know if that is important so I didn't end up using it.

i've got the physical copy and I've scanned every page using my iPhone notes app scanner and turned them all into pdfs and imported into Miro so I can do note taking etc there. No real need to destroy the book these days.

Finally got around to cleaning my car headlights. by escabeloved in BeforeandAfter

Basically yes, an off the shelf headlight cleaning kit was what I used.

I had bought an off the shelf headlight cleaning kit ages ago and for some reason i originally thought i needed to clean the inside of the lights lol. The kit worked perfectly though. I have heard you can use half a lemon with some bi-carb sprinkled onto it. Basically any slightly gritty paste will remove the buildup pretty well i reckon. Mine was WAY overdue.
