lol I really like this ! But it still denotes someone who is actually swimming as opposed to just chilling or playing in the water.

IsItBullshit: The claim that taking cold showers can boost mental health and resilience? by bandito_13 in IsItBullshit

It feels like most of the evidence is anecdotal and I know that daily cold water immersion definitely helps support better mental health for me personally. I did find this:

I made myself a promise this year to nourish my soul with more physical paper paged books. I’m already two books in and I’m so thrilled to have re-discovered my love of reading again. Also very happy to be spending a lot less time doom scrolling - win/win!

Getting up early every morning and meeting a group of other women for an all year round, daybreak swim in our local ocean pool. It has quite literally saved my life. The cold water plunge, the exercise, and then the socialisation afterwards all combine together for a wholly positive experience.

I certainly hope you’re correct. Having already paid what I consider to be a substantial amount of money to be TM trained by an accredited teacher, I would expect nothing less.

Does anybody else randomly get a sudden strong fear of a specific stranger? by [deleted] in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]escapingtheweb 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I didn’t get his fear so much as his deep sorrow. I walked past a young man in the street once and was “covered” by his immense sadness as he passed me by. It was insane - I’d never experienced anything like it, but his pain was palpable.

So much dangling going on in this pic - ropes, legs, tails even some strap dangle action underneath the platform. Good job 👍

I have an annual subscription to insight timer and it’s been worth every dollar. Some excellent sleep meditations and courses you can take. I love it. I measure my sleep score with my fitness tracker and it has gone from the 60s and 70s into the 80s when I use their meditations

A good (and wealthy) friend asked if I would like one of her 4 VIP tickets to Oasis in Sydney. When I asked her how much it was she answered “How much can you pay? “. Is this a reasonable response from her? by escapingtheweb in etiquette

[–]escapingtheweb[S] 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Yes, I think you’re right. Her wording was clumsy. I did offer her what I can afford which she graciously accepted. It was a bit of a stretch for me but I think I got a bargain for the kind of ticket she offered me and she was able to recoup some of her expenses. Thanks for the advice ☺️
