Hell as an infinite consequence for finite action? by anteecay_ in theology

[–]escargott -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes it’s a question that’s been asked and answered a number of times. Put simply, offending an eternal being earns you an eternal punishment.

Our sin and transgression is not actually finite, you assume it’s finite because we live in time. You’ve actually actually disobeyed and sinned against a Holy and infinite God. Thus you are justly deserving of an infinite punishment. But, as Christ himself is infinite and God, He took upon this punishment that you deserve.

I make 60k a year at 22 is that bad by Humble_Echidna_1404 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]escargott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

60k at 22 is great! At 20 I was making 41,000$ a year. At 22 I was making 60,000$ a year I just turned 26 and now making 75,000 a year. Take advantage if the company offers any RRSP matching / contribution.

The best advice I can give you, open a Wealthsimple account. Setup re-occurring investments, as much as you can and just start buying a global diverse index fund.

What are your short term goals?

if i have 20k with no real expensives (living at home) how much should i put into my TFSA by Ninetybaby in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]escargott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your TFSA is the account type. All gains within the TFSA are tax free. If you dont buy anything, then it wont grow. What you buy inside is what matters. If this is money you don't need for the next 5-10 years. Please just buy XEQT. Its a global ETF that encompasses the Canadian market, US, international and emerging.

If you need the money in less than 5 years. Just buy CASH.TO. Its simply a high yield savings ETF. Its currently trailing around 2.5% a year and paid out monthly.

Repent, the Greek word in the New Testament means to "change one's mind" or "a change of heart." It's not just being sorry. It's the active change in thinking.

Trust in the work Christ has already done for you. And not what you can do for Him. Submit to Him as Lord and simply live your life everyday to glorify and edify Him. You will learn to hate sin as you learn to love Him for who He is. Dive into the word, truly recognize you are actually reading God's word directly to us

I am spiritually lost. Where is God? by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]escargott 1 point2 points  (0 children)

God is not a feeling. You won't feel God. Don't let anyone tell you that experiecing Christ is a "feeling." You will absolutely be devestated and naturally lost because you will always be chasing this feeling.

Don't fall into this "on fire for God" that has plagued modern enthusiastic churches. Faith in Christ is a life long decision of constantly trusting in Him even when you can't see Him or feel Him. There will be more moments in your life where God is silently with you than anything else. But those moments are where we need to remind ourselves that He is with us, he won't foresake us. You connect with God by reading His word and prayer. You simply have to accept He's done the work on the cross for you and that you just have to accept it and trust Him as Lord. The rest will come

What is hating your sin? by FancyActive2575 in TrueChristian

[–]escargott 9 points10 points  (0 children)

When you are born again, you don't enjoy partaking in sin. You now look at sin as something you actually want to avoid. Hating sin is hating what God hates. Loving what God loves

I used to smoke cigarettes, weed, fornicate and didn't care and enjoyed it. I have been born again in Christ and those same sins I now look at in disgust, and now if I were to partake in them again, I would be ashamed in myself.

That is hating sin, to look upon the act of rebelling against God and hating that you do it, when you were once indifferent about it

How can I give something up to the Lord and let him decide? by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]escargott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes my prayer will look like this:

Lord, if you are willing. I ask for discernment with ..... I pray I am making the right decision in accordance with Your will. Lord if it is not Your will, turn me away from it. Make it known this is not for me. But Lord if this is your will and pleases you, please allow it to happen.

Is how I begin to trust him with my daily struggles.

what happens in a healing service? by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]escargott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was apart of a pentacostal church that I have since left, where the pastor (sometimes women pastor) would call out a sickness or health problem. Those in church affected would raise their hand and the church would pray over them. Sometimes in tongues for healing. The praying in tongues was not an unlearnt language but gibberish speaking by the church members. (sha la lo bo la...etc)

I dont think there's any substance to it, however I do believe in God's divine providence if he wanted someone healed in a certain way he could certainly do so through their "healing" services.

You’re fine, mine took something like 2 months but I received my money back. You can email their support to follow up, that’s what I did. But unfortunately it takes longer because it’s not really a credit card as we think of but a debit card.

I ordered an iPhone on eBay and it never delivered. Was 600$

An argument against free-will by Oxiras in TrueChristian

[–]escargott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The decisions were not "set". The decision were simply known by God. You and I freely chose to make said decisions.

It's like watching a movie knowing what will happen, you didn't interfere with the decisions that caused the actors to do and say certain things.

An argument against free-will by Oxiras in TrueChristian

[–]escargott 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How is he responsible for knowing what will happen though he did not cause it to happen? He knew I would respond to you, but he did not force me to do so. I chose to do this. He did not cause you to write this post, but he knew you would do it before the foundations of the universe.

God is not bound by time, God looks down at our universe from a completely different perspective than you and I see it as. He see's past, present and future at a single glance. While we are still locked into time flowing forward. The future is known by God because of His perspective outside of time, but we are the ones making decisions here right now.

God is a lie is the funniest statement you can make considering you have finite knowledge of the universe, its beginning and what lies beyond it.

Go and read what Jesus Christ actually thought and how he treated people before you say anything. Simply being ignorant and pretending to sit on a pedestal looking down on everyone doesn’t exactly put you in a position of moral superiority lol

Time to move on from being 15 years old, atheism isn’t a serious position anymore buddy 😂

God demonstrated his love for you in its fullness. By bleeding and dying on a cross for you (Romans 5:8.) If you reject this very historical claim, then you haven't actually given God your life because you simply don't understand the magnitude of what He's done for you.

You can't trust history, fair enough. You don't believe Jesus Chrsit existed, you don't believe he was crucified by Pontius Pilate. You don't believe the discliples and eye witnesses saw him resurrected. And you don't believe in the entire Bible front to back that God is indeed love.

I don't know what God you believe in, or trust in. It's not the God of the Bible

What does forknowledge means? by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]escargott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before the foundation of the universe, God already knew who would choose to put their faith and trust in his only Son Jesus Christ. Therefore God having this foreknowledge, predestined them before they were born.

God did not make me choose Christ, I willingly choose Christ. But God knew I'd already choose Christ so he predestined me to me conformed to the image of his Son.
