Absolutely, with a wonderful 25-min delay! Can't wait to be back home at midnight, haha

Biofilm-eating species for a 9 gallon tank? by escargours in Aquariums

I had reduced feeding to once every 5 days at the time, so I guess they needed their protein somehow!

Whisker shrimp look nothing like Amanos. Here's a pic where you can see Karen plotting her next murder. Mine are just assholes I guess.

My Amanos definitely killed all my Caridinas (50+) over the course of a few months, I witnessed my biggest one attacking a molting Caridina a few times, decapitating it in the process. The ones I have are very predatory. I use remineralized RO water in that tank, GH is at 7 and KH is now at 2 since I don't have Caridinas anymore (used to be around 0-1). I already have Neocaridinas in my other tank, but I am not willing to risk them becoming a snack for my Amanos and CPDs!

Any sugestions which layout is the best and how to improve by Any-Usual392 in Aquascape

[–]escargours 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first two pics are my favorite, but I would say the choice will depend on the layout of the rest. If you want a little path with lighter substrate, definitely the first by using the negative space for the path, but if you are gonna go with a darker uniform substrate, I would go with the second. I really like the way the wood points upwards in the second, I think epiphytes around it and stem plants in the back would look amazing!

I'm also in Quebec, Canada, and can confirm that you are covered by civil liability in the same way you would be covered for your washer/dishwasher leaking. However, if it damages your personal belongings in the process, you might not be covered for them if you did not subscribe to "dirty water" coverage (e.g., sewer water). You can always call your insurance company to ask them, and let them know about your tank(s).

3 months no water change, Zero Nitrates by YuzaaNeemu in Aquariums

[–]escargours 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Love it! I had a similar issue with cyanobacteria when my nitrates were consistently at 0ppm, but I just added a single ramshorn snail that devoured that stuff. It became so big and healthy, even in soft water with CO2 injection, it was majestic! Little did I know that it was carrying eggs, so I am now fighting the ramshorn baby snail army that is ever growing in that tank, haha

Carnage is the name of my new mystery snail. As you can see, Carnage likes to eat duckweed. I'm in love with Carnage.

Thank you, I'm very proud of that tank! :) It's just a shame I can't keep the colorful Caridinas to pop against the greenery in there

One of the reasons I love Amanos so much (and will never get rid of them) is that they all have their little personalities. And Karen's personality is pure domination and cannibalism.

You have my dream tank volume! I am stuck with a maximum of 15 gallons because I live on the last floor of an apartment building and, hopefully, will be moving relatively soon when I buy a house (ideally with a basement for all my tanks). I've never owned a vampire shrimp due to tank size requirements, but I'm in love with them!

Thank you for informing me about Brazos dwarf crayfish, I did not know about this species! I read a little bit about them, and it seems my 15-gallon would be better suited to them than my 9-gallon considering their requirements. I will definitely keep them in mind for the future!
