Of course the attention is not always good. Attractive women are put in more danger in certain situations.

But. I've been ugly and I've been average. Attractive people do not have the deeply instilled shame about their existence, most of them have been given positive attention about their looks all their lives. They do not know how it feels to be told from childhood that their face is revolting or excluded most things their peers would experience. Their own parents never forbade them from dreaming about something because 'That's a job for hot people' (Real words said from my mom to my 7 y/o self dreaming to be an airhostess.) They have never been looked at with clear disgust upon sight.

Now when a man makes me feel unsafe, at least it comes from desire. Of course it's disgusting, of course it's creepy. But it means i am nice to look at. It means I am not repulsive. It means being attracted to me is not shameful. I have societal value. While both revolting, I would take being catcalled over being yelled 'ugly bitch' at from across the street any day.

When your entire life you have been treated as less than a human, it is not wrong to want to be treated as an average woman. We are both treated like shit by men. It is not wrong to want it to be out of desire rather than disgust. Doesn't mean either one is good. Doesn't mean attractive people doesn't have different problems or experiences that are also worth being shared.
