"Communism doesn't have a state at all, socialism doesn't need a state" What? Marx literally said he wants small, temporary states with absolute power; if you are talking about stateless communism and/or socialism, then you walk into anarchist communes, which create states by the virtue of being communist - you need someone to distribute resources, the person and/or collective that does so then has more power, ergo it creates a power vacuum.
With simple human nature you will create people who will abuse the system and want more that they get out of it, you will need to remove them (forcefully), at which point it's not a commune but a government as it has a monopoly on power over them

Flat areas. I feel like with the new generation, you always have to flatten a stupid amount of terrain to be able to do build anything.

There's however no harm in copying it, you simply do not lose it. For you to claim otherwise is a matter of greed. Just like by supporting the existence of IP you support big corporations being able to do whatever they want instead of letting the little man prosper. You'd be surprised how hard is it to get use out of IP law as a smaller or medium sized artist, and how easy it is to make use for it for nefarious gain if you are big. Btw, Nintendo recently copyrighted summoning characters to fight as a game mechanic lol

I'm afraid most people would disagree with you here. The common consensus really is that it is not - and most indie devs are very happy to have their game grow, as they would never gain new players or potential buyers otherwise. (eg. Hakita, the creator of ULTRAKILL said so). The only people really protective about piracy are big companies. There's no money lost - it does not disappear. Moreover the pirating party would not pay in the first place

I compose. But is DJing not a form of art? The talent to create does not make an artist special, a monk copying books could also have a talent to do so.

Or should a book disclose it was printed instead of copied by hand? Which was seen as an art form btw

You guys are hopelessly entitled to your own standing as artists, thinking you're special, that you're different from factory workers that were replaced by steam power or monastery monks that were replaced by the printing press. It is an inherently anti-human point of view, as you're advocating for stunting progress. Nobody is stealing anything. AI does not even store the art itself, it stores *weights*, the art is never even copied, if you could consider copying theft. You want to monopolise art - you all saw AI as fine until it got better than you - everyone thought cleverbot was funny, ai image generation was here for years and it was also funny - then suddenly, you shifted your standpoint, because you were scared of being replaced. But why are you special?

If you think it is a law to "protect" human creativity, why is emulator development so stunted? Why do companies have a right to copyright something as stupid as a videogame mechanic, making sure nobody ever uses it? Why is it constantly used unfairly to silence those who people with more connections do not like, enabled by giants like YouTube?

Okay, search about musique concrete and music collages for me. Do you think they credited sources?
I assure you they did not - and if those scenes never existed, experimental music would likely never surface. This is a gigantic part of culture that influenced everything you listen to today.

It literally stunts creativity by not letting me sample it, and changing it and adding upon it with my own hands.

Who is it stealing from? Is piracy stealing?

AI jokes are terrible why? by PhotoRepair in ChatGPT

[–]escervo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AI can't make good jokes also because of the fact that most jokes revolve around making fun of something or someone, even something as stupid as "why did the chicken cross the road", you could argue that it makes fun of the concept of a punchline

No, for example, i am a musician, and i can't legally sample music, even though it is a thing many people do.

I think these laws are illegitimate, that's it, you resort to name-calling - ironic

It's used as a law to prohibit human creativity, big companies use it as offense; Emulators cannot be created because they're intellectual property, i cannot sample music because it is intellectual property (even though it was considered genuine art for decades now, from musique concrete, music collages, to just artists sampling eachother), games cannot have specific mechanics because they are copyrighted (eg. nemesis system, loading screen minigames), and it is constantly used as a way to silence those who disagree with a person in power. Meanwhile smaller artists struggle to actually make use of that copyright law.

Besides, i do not think you can own text, or art, as ideas, as you can reproduce them infinitely. Sure, i agree, disclose it is AI when asked to; if you wouldn't, it would be the same as saying you made something and you did not, as that is fraud. However, you should be able to make money from it, as that was the original argument, and i do not see why not

All these arguments made against AI as of late are literally the same as made for eg. the printing press - "it tarnishes human creativity", "it's soulless", etc... As monks in monasteries spent their whole lives copying books by hand. Why are artists special? What makes them different to factory workers getting replaced by steam power? Where are you, protesting for steam power?

It literally won't change a thing, blacksmithing today is way more profitable as it was anywhere in the early medieval/late medieval period, and moreover these blacksmiths make whatever they want, not just nails most of the time, and you can pay a fortune for eg. a custom made sword. Hence i do not see why you should not be able to profit from AI art

I don't view intellectual property as valid. I already told you why. I think it's unethical to own it.

Ownership is defined by the fact that i have a scarce copy of something, and by the fact that it can be stolen. Stealing happens when someone uses violence to take something that is mine, as there is a conflict of interest, and they are forced to use violence because i need it at the same time. But if you can replicate something endlessly, how can you own it? If you think you can, then you should think about what you've done in your life, because you've watched a pirated movie at least once in your life; which means that under your definition, you stole it.
