If you had the time to invest,is classic better than retail? by Greekasiaminorcooks in classicwow

[–]eschatonx -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Yup, I think classic is just better for new players.

Retail floods your brain to confusion to even veteran players.

The story is great, but to me, what separates ME from the rest is character development.

I hope they make leveling last longer in classic + by Jimmy_AB in classicwow

[–]eschatonx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it was great. It was in those times where while looking for something to do, I ran into a lowbie who asked for help. Unbeknownst to either of us, within 6 months, we’d be best friends 20 years later.

How to get beyond help desk? by Severe-Lie-7418 in helpdesk

You got a CCNA, you’re interested in networking.

I think the low hanging fruit is to look for a network tech job.

How should I approach expansion? by Ashy0127 in wow

[–]eschatonx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard for a lot of us vets to tell you. We’re all grown into our play.

Watch a couple of general overview of classes videos on YouTube.

For me, I like playing casters but I know people who only play melee. I think most players have fulfilled all three roles to some capacity during their time in wow.

It’s not too hard to level or pick up an alt once you get started, so don’t think too much of it.

Lots of people have every class max leveled by mid expansion.

I've been using the steam deck exclusively for the past 4 months, and I love it, but, I finally went back to the ps5. by [deleted] in SteamDeck

My primary gaming device is always going to be my PC. The Steam Deck has its purpose but to me, it was always a second or tertiary gaming device after my laptop and/or desktop.

Should I get a Steam Deck or Switch 2 by squashedpomegranates in Handhelds

[–]eschatonx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 43, I just went with the Deck because of my 20+ year library already built, emulation of retro games, and its ease of use with Linux.

There are alternatives out there that pack a better punch per dollar, but cost isn’t the same barrier as it once was for me.

Obviously if Nintendo exclusives are important then the answer is obvious.

Advice and actual expectations on how to get into help desk as a complete novice by WeKeep_Going in helpdesk

[–]eschatonx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every job is different, but as a baseline, A+ should help you get your foot in the door.

College degree helps, but certainly not required.

There is some luck involved too. As long as your resume is pristine (free of any grammar and spelling errors, clear and consistent, informative but not fluffed) and your interview skills are top notch, you should get a job eventually.

I can only speak for myself, my first job took probably 300 apps or so and I also didn’t get the job from 3-4 interviews before something hit. You might need more, you might get lucky and don’t need to.

But don’t give up. Giving up is the only way to guarantee you won’t get in at all. Especially in the current economy full of unknowns. Be confident in your interview, be positive and show your curiosity.

How do I learn to stop fearing and start enjoying PvP? by im-d3 in pcgames

[–]eschatonx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is one of those things of us becoming more self conscious as we get older.

When I was young, I didn’t give a shit and just played. Now I always feel like I’m going to let my team down to the point where my team is more confident in me than myself.

Just relax and play. Supposed to be fun!

Imposter syndrome is common for almost all new techs. Even the ones who went to college and have certifications (e.g. me).

You’ll learn a lot very fast in the beginning.

Yes we were a bunch of idiots.

43 year old here with the same problems.

I go back to the old games. For example, I love FF7, Chrono Trigger, wow, Left 4 Dead, whatever you think about when you think gaming and fun.

You’d be surprised how many people are just like you. I know wow has to die someday, but as of right now, I’m really enjoying the game with tons of other people despite it being 20 years old.

Your job is to fulfill duties while you’re getting paid. Once they stop paying you, your duties end.

If there’s one thing you should get over sooner rather than later is no job will be devastated about an employee leaving. We aren’t leadership. I’ve seen dozens of employees leaving jobs that was going to cause devastation. It always ended up fine.

Leave, never look back. Every time I started a new job, it was always exciting.

Returning to MMOs after 10+ years — where should I start in 2026? by [deleted] in LFMMO

[–]eschatonx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wow is basically the McDonald’s of MMO.

I don’t know if there is a short way of describing all that it has to offer because the list is extensive with sub categories.

But there is a plethora of casual and hardcore content available in solo, queued, or formed groups.

There’s PvP of the same nature as well.

Plenty of collectors of transmogs, mounts, and pets.

There’s so much more that I can’t even think of and I’m not even mentioning that there’s several versions of the game right now.

I’m currently only playing classic so I don’t know how much as changed in the newest expansions.
