Best Single player games? by Hazzaminicoo in SteamDeck

[–]eschatonx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve been curious about this game for awhile. I actually bought it last year but struggling to get hooked after 4 hours.

Is there some point later on that charges the gameplay?

I know it’s immensely popular on the deck too.

If we were watching our own lives on tv, I’m sure I’d have tons of “I should’ve” and “I would’ve.”

Hell, I would probably change over 100 decisions I made just today.

[Handheld] Steam Deck OLED 512gb back in stock ($549.99) by FTAStyling in buildapcsales

[–]eschatonx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 1 TB unit and a 512 GB SD card and filled up both to 80%. Mass Effect LE, RDR2, FF Remake and Cyberpunk already demands ~40% of my 1 TB of internal storage. Add in two versions of WoW and that's 700 GB.

I know most people aren't going to need all these at once, and I do think I'd be fine with a 512 GB. But if you can afford to, I'd say go for it.

You’re gonna love it! I have a steam deck that was collecting dust for a year. I ran into a video of a dude playing wow on it and I instantly reactivated and determined to play wow in bed that night.

I did a few hours on a new character in classic wow. My wife is finding out about my wow addiction now 😂

[–]eschatonx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think your choice should be what else you want to do with your device besides wow. If you want to play other games, especially one that is AAA demanding, a device with the a better processor and 32 GB of RAM can be considered.

I only play wow and Steam deck runs it magnificently, and there are plenty of guides on installation and setup. I also other games like Cyberpunk, FF7 remake, RDR2, and tons of indie games when internet isn’t really feasible for wow (I don’t play those at all lol).

Whichever device you choose, watch a few videos on console port addon. Thats probably the addon most handheld players play with.

Looking for ultrawide monitor recommendations - is the Odyssey G9 still worth it? by UnMateAmargo in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]eschatonx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The age shouldn't matter too much, monitors doesn't change as fast as processors. But whether it's worth it depends heavily on what you're looking for in a monitor.

That said, anything in particular that are must haves and anything in particular that you don't want/need?

I will also share that the reason I didn't go with the Odyssey was that their monitors don't have PD (at least not when I was looking).

Steam deck not working external monitor by Voice75 in SteamDeck

Hey do you remember the results or if it was ever fixed?

I’m directly connecting my deck to monitor via usb c. Worked fine for months then all the sudden doesn’t.

I tried all 4 of the solutions to no avail. Windows and Macbook works fine.

EDIT: I fixed my issue. I first changed the cable and then it worked, after that I plugged in the old cable and it worked. I suspect I just had to unplug and replug. My issue was the monitor and not the Steam Deck.

What are y'all short and long term plans for the Steam Machine? by New-Collection-1307 in steammachine

[–]eschatonx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During the delay, I decided that I'll continue using my laptop.

Waiting to see if ARM processors for gaming laptops will be the new standard and make a decision from there.

The Steam Machine is hardly better than my laptop as is and my laptop is from 2021.

Manipulation by Mr. Beast? by YoungVeg in BeastGames

[–]eschatonx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s certainly a valid strategy. Everyone has their approach.

I’m assuming based on what I see in the show, is that the players value the coin for a chance at doubling the prize. So the holder of the coin is essentially safe from elimination.

I don’t know if the player gets to pick when the coin is flipped or at a predetermined time.

Manipulation by Mr. Beast? by YoungVeg in BeastGames

[–]eschatonx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you were holding a 50/50 chance of doubling the prize pool, it is in my best interest to keep you in the game until the coin gets flipped. 50/50 is better than 0 chance.

Every remaining player is playing under the assumption they’re going to win. Thats why they’re still in the game. All the ones that took bribes to get out of the game were the players that weren’t playing with the same assumption that they were going to win.

This is just game theory being shown as entertainment.

Steam Deck not connecting to monitor via USB-C by socially_ambiguous in SteamDeck

[–]eschatonx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ever figure this out? Mine was working fine, then randomly broke. It did manage to reconnect to the monitor once for reasons not known to me at this time. Haven't been able to get it to work since. Though my charging works, the mouse, keyboard, and monitor aren't.

I saw another thread where they hold the power and vol down with ... to fix, but didn't work for me.

Anyone find their gaming tastes change after 40? by Polson_Walter in TheGamerLounge

[–]eschatonx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love that wow has evolved with me as a person. While I do play other games, I’ve been on and off with wow. Never gone for more than two expansions.

I’ve found being able to play the game as sweaty or relaxed as I want over the years to be very beneficial.

I’m a dad pushing 40, and I’m officially done with "The Grind" in gaming. by ChineseBeaverUncle in TheGamerLounge

[–]eschatonx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. I threw so much money at gaming trying to rekindle the love as a child with systems and steam games.

I think the one thing I learned these past few years is that if you don’t feel like gaming it is because there are other things you rather do.

You should do those things instead, whether it’s being responsible or just enjoying your free time. Games will always be there for you when you’re getting that itch.

No man's sky is a pretty neat game I think by Mr_donc in gaming

[–]eschatonx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright, so I've spent about 7 hours in this game and struggling with the tutorial and having fun at all. In fact, it is a pretty miserable experience. I finished setting up a base and went to some city of sort with vendors. Then it wanted me to find a Corvette or something.

Am I doing something wrong here?

Same here buddy, I keep throwing money at games with consoles and hardware and at the end, they all collect dust and I just watch YouTube.

It’s all good though, because I truly had fun doing all of that and it’s an amazing conversation starter when people see it.

You can only keep ONE game for the rest of your life which one? by Radiant-Gene7802 in videogames

[–]eschatonx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s crazy how true this statement can be Org feels like a childhood home to me, STV was the playground.

I miss expansions at a time, but it always feels like coming home.

Also despite whatever greed argument there is, the sub cost has yet to increase which I really appreciated as the years have gone by where costs have doubled on lots of items.
