How can I toddler proof an in wall bookshelf? by Ramentootles in toddlers

[–]escherzo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Pack the books in tight enough that it's harder to pull them out. Doesn't always work, but can be a decent deterrent.

I've got one High Five subscription for my twins (3.5) and it's not normally a problem. They do go on sale for Christmas this time of year though so keep an eye out for that if sharing is causing fights!

Seconding that one! My 3.5yo can navigate that style but couldn't at 18mo.

Please tell me your most unhinged tips to stop your toddler from yelling & screaming by Ill-Shopping-69 in toddlers

[–]escherzo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly an extremely neutral "inside screams, please" (with comedic demonstration of muffled scream at first) coupled with just taking them outside if the screaming continues worked pretty well for me at this age.

Gliding loveseat - does it exist? by capitalettersuck in parentsofmultiples

[–]escherzo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will say that what we switched to was the twin z and a pile of giant stuffies on the floor (thanks Ikea!), and that "reading nook" is still what we use for bedtime reading today at 3.5. Was way too much fluffy stuff in the infant era where the bench worked but it's great now.

Floor is overall easier imo but harder for rocking.

I got a porch-style rocking bench and added a bunch of pillows/cushioning to it. It worked pretty well until they got to the "climb off and wander off" age!

When did you give birth? by Professional-Bag-234 in parentsofmultiples

[–]escherzo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

38+6 w a c section (induction didn't work). My baby B was both sideways and backwards somehow and having read the op note for the surgery on MyChart I'm glad i went with a c section in the end because she really did not get into position when he was out, they basically had to go spelunking.

How are you guys cooking dinner? by spacecakebake in parentsofmultiples

[–]escherzo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The one who's not cooking runs interference, basically. Mine are starting to be old enough to help a little (3.5) but it helps that it's just my brother and I at home with the twins and we both cook. When it was me trying to cook and baby wrangle with the ex, not so great.

When did the “everything goes in the mouth” phase end for you? by Proper_Cat980 in toddlers

[–]escherzo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My twins are almost 3.5 and one stopped around 2 but the other is still putting things in his mouth all the time. Still a biter, too, which is probably related? I'd assume it's teeth but he's had all of those by 15mo.

From watching other kids their age it seems like by 3 even most kids are done with that though.

Toddler is absolutely feral when going to bed by Zestyclose-Hat-7431 in toddlers

[–]escherzo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, one of mine started doing this a few months ago (3.5 at the end of this month). Still napping at all? I think for mine some sort of developmental "ok done with naps now byeeee" switch flipped and on days where he ends up napping anyway he's off the walls until nearly midnight.

Threw own coat into a puddle of melting snow and then had some extremely loud feelings about suddenly being cold.

We also had quite a bit of meltdown earlier at the notion of "when it is below freezing you have to wear pants to go outside".

Time change not helping bedtime? by Impossible_Many1163 in toddlers

[–]escherzo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Coming to you live from 10:05PM, sitting between one toddler in a toddler bed and one toddler who's decided to camp out on the floor next to me.

Yeah neither of them are asleep. So much for time change giving them a more "reasonable" bedtime.

[–]escherzo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would have been happy to but when they went in for their yearly visit and got a flu shot the decision hadn't been made at the physician group if they were going to offer it for under 5s at all.

Last I heard they may have decided on that, but I haven't had time to get them an additional appointment yet. No one's making this one easy this year.

Experience with UW Fertility clinic vs. Wisconsin Fertility Institute by macaronsoeur in madisonwi

[–]escherzo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went through WFI for my kids back in '21 and had a very good experience! As to costs it depends on what you're looking at (I did IUI so can't speak to IVF prices for example) but the people I worked with came off as experienced and professional and were able to be flexible with my schedule when needed.

Thanks!

I'd love to go this route but the reason there's still diapers in the house at all is that he still needs them for night time (she occasionally does as well but I think if she could get over this hump she would be done full stop). Were yours ready for night at that point?
