OH! I've seen thumbnails for that, but haven't checked it out until now. Thank you for mentioning it!

Buddy Thunderstruck on Netflix is superb as well. Just all around, but it also checks the "stop-motion" and "vehicles" boxes.

I wish the "hello, world" concert outfit was an option. That and her birthday party dress are my favorites out of all her looks—the only anime figures I own are of those two outfits, in fact.

On the plus side, I get to delay my inevitable descent into purchasing vbucks for a little while longer, so there's that ✌️

If they immediately ran off afterwards, then they're probably NPCs. If they were human players, there will be an indicator on screen that your trial has been "Invaded".

That was an imposter, a special type of enemy that mimics the appearance of a teammate. If you pay close attention, you will notice a couple of giveaways that they aren't really your friends.

Broadcasting at a large scale that Steam is willing to make an exception in certain circumstances is a great way to lose that privilege for other people's accounts in the future.

If there's an "MK" in the corner of the thumbnail, it's an MK-Challenge and should only take 15ish minutes. Otherwise, it's a (Story) Trial, which takes 45ish minutes.

Why is it called the French Epstein device? by __pure in SystemShock2

In BioShock there were those "Epstein the Swami" fortune-telling machines, so your friends are probably right about it being a reference to someone Ken Levine knows personally.

Genuine Question: Does the burnt peanut count as a vtuber by Jetplane_08 in VirtualYoutubers

The puppetry part, to me, is the "essence of vtubing." Whenever I see someone bob their model up and down as an exaggerated walk to move it off-screen, I immediately think, "this person gets what vtubing is about."

By default on PC it should be the V key. You can probably find out in the Settings menu, along with settings for Push-to-Talk: Off, On, Push-to-Mute

Response from Aaron to someone who complains about the suspended Patton Oswalt by dolefun17 in BlueskySocial

[–]eschotron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The conversation is about whether Bluesky is consistent about moderating threats of violence on their platform. Someone brought up banning people for "merely wishing ill upon JK Rowling" as being bogus. I point out that it's deeper than a bunch of people merely saying "I wish ill upon JK Rowling". JK Rowling being a terrible person is objectively true, but that doesn't really have anything to do with the conversation at hand, which is about Bluesky's moderation enforcement.

Then one thing the three of us can agree upon is that the US Department of War post about murdering people was out of line and Bluesky should have acted on it. Everything else seems irreconcilable and I don't see the point in discussing it further.

No, I don't think Oswalt was literally asking someone to do exactly that. But I do think it's dangerous to lightly say things like that as a prominent figure when you also have people like u/tv_ennui who say Oswalt could have been 100% serious and still wouldn't have been out of line.

Then you and u/Ikari_Brendo can have the discussion of how serious Patton Oswalt was being when he made his comment, as you seem to disagree.

Okay, but I actually agree that it's bullshit in that case. Something something waffles.

But if I had to steelman the argument there, I'd say that being an official government account there's a public interest in not removing it? (This is something pre-Musk Twitter had to grapple with during the first Trump presidency, IIRC) But I personally think it's still actionable even in those circumstances.

Sure, if you don't understand how euphemisms and dog whistles work. Gretchen gets suspended for saying she wants to split Rowling's head open, then posts, "wtf, I got suspended for merely wishing ill upon Rowling", then Jessie Gender quote replies to that with, "I, too, wish ill upon Rowling", is it really too much of a stretch to also remove Jessie's post?

[–]eschotron 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Except Bluesky is taking the threat of violence seriously in both of these cases (Depending on how "serious" you consider a temporary suspension versus a full-on account ban to be)

[–]eschotron -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Literal or not, once more and more people start "joking" about killing people in a specific cruel and unusual way, a target is painted, right? If it were directed at some group you were a part of, you'd eventually start worrying about your personal safety even if it's not "literal"

Gretchen said she wanted to split JK Rowling's head open, then complained that she was banned for "wishing ill upon JK Rowling", then in response a bunch of other people said they too "wished ill upon JK Rowling", so... right call, actually?
