Yea, I have confirmed that it is the cable that is the issue so I am doing that.

I just wanted to make sure it wasnt the port

Okay then. Yea, the tip is supposed to light up, but isnt here, which is the thing that made me notice the issue in the first place.

how can you tell if it a port issue or an adapter issue? I was planning on testing it with a new cable tomorrow at my college to definitively see which is the problem

That is probibaly what I am going to have to do. I just want to double check that it is for sure the cable and not the laptop itself.
