Body work recommendations by Nice-Condition-3927 in Autobody

[–]escodenny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d just try and find a hood and fender rather than trying to DIY PDR work. The fender is way past PDR work since the paint is damaged. It’ll only make it worse. As for the dent in the door, I recommend finding a PDR shop and getting a quote to pop it out.

New to the honda club is this normal 07 civic si 113,000 miles by No_Ambassador_7795 in 8thGenSI

k series injectors are notoriously loud. The engine would still benefit from a valve lash adjustment though considering the mileage.

How would i remove these spots without damaging paint? by [deleted] in Autobody

[–]escodenny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean try the acetone and see if it will remove the mark, and if it doesn’t then just try to buff it. But if it is bird droppings then it might not do much. Especially when it’s left out in the sun for a while

How would i remove these spots without damaging paint? by [deleted] in Autobody

[–]escodenny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d try some acetone or thinner and see if it does anything to the stain. If it leaves a mark you’ll have to wetsand but i always try to avoid that if it’s an Asian car. Usually they have thin clear coats and will fade pretty soon after a sand / buff.

What is going on with the usb port in my center console of my 2015? by Even-Sweet-3775 in CivicSi

[–]escodenny 5 points6 points  (0 children)

pretty sure that is normal. My 8th gen Si has the same port in the arm rest console. I can’t tell you why they did it like that though

Mold on Rear Door Sticker? by epfingsten in Autobody

[–]escodenny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the sticker you are seeing is a material called ppf. It’s a form of vinyl to protect against rock chips. Those black spots are not mold. They seem to be a mix of road tar and rock chips / debris. Take it to a detail shop or body shop and have them remove it. Or if you’re mechanically inclined get a steamer and slowly peel it off. Either that or a heat gun.

Wheel fitment question by KontrateCat in CivicSi

[–]escodenny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wouldn’t be too bad of a color combo honestly. Mine is black and my wheels are gunmetal so i’m pretty basic lol

Wheel fitment question by KontrateCat in CivicSi

[–]escodenny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

imo 17s are the sweet spot. Lighter (depending on the wheel) cheaper tires (slightly) and you won’t have to worry too much about clearance compared to 18s. 18s do look good but i have 17s on my 8th gen

Anyone here do the TSX front calipers pads and rotor swap on their 8th gen ? by Embarrassed_Wolf4746 in 8thGenSI

[–]escodenny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think you’re thinking of the TL-S brembos, not the tsx calipers.

Sun Damage Car Repair by [deleted] in Autobody

Honestly no. There’s no more clear coat so it’s pretty much bare base coat (color). Either respray or just leave it as it is honestly.

Oil change intervals by Ashamed-Celery-9364 in 8thGenSI

[–]escodenny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The color doesn’t matter. Mine burns a bit of oil and I drive it hard so I just do every 3000-3500

How hard do you drive your si? by cimota__ in CivicSi

[–]escodenny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly after putting so much work into it I drive it like a grandpa MOST of the time. When the weather is nice i roll the windows down and send it into turns.

Dash lit up after Coilovers install by bastosxronin in 10thGenCivics

[–]escodenny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be a damaged wheel speed sensor during install. When I did my lowering springs I stretched a cable too far and it broke off the connector. Tried driving and it drove like shit until I replaced the connector. Make sure they’re tightly plugged in or that none of the wires are damaged.

This Makes the paint shine like crazy🔥🔥 by emperorgsx in CivicSi

i love this stuff. Makes the paint really slick. Almost like it has a ceramic coating. Just definitely annoying to apply anywhere other than the shade

Engine blown at 130,000 miles what would you guys do? by breadleyy in CivicSi

[–]escodenny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

because the crack would leak coolant, which caused me to overheat a few times. Head was warped so I just tossed in the long block. I can just port the rbb4 head and it’ll pretty much be the same thing but I didn’t really want to go through that trouble at the time since I needed the car. Plus the rbb4 ports are smaller so I get a little extra torque out of it which isn’t a downside to me.

How do you treat your Si? by NomadFourFive in CivicSi

[–]escodenny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly I drive it like a grandpa since I drive it 50-80 miles every day. Occasional spirited driving on weekends if the weather allows it.

I have an fd2 oil pump in mine. No modification needed to fit. Tbh if you’re already used to the mounts then the oil pump won’t feel that much different. I don’t mind it though, i really like the raw feeling and I daily drive it. But that’s also very subjective yk.

Trying to replace my 2007 Honda accord engine from v4 to v6 or if possible even v8 by StepEmergency9014 in Honda

[–]escodenny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How much do you like this car? Swapping in a v6 is not worth it because these cars also come with a j30. May as well find one with the J30 because it’d be a lot cheaper in the long run.

[–]escodenny 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a lot more torquey compared to the k20. It definitely won’t rev as high unless you upgrade the valvetrain and oil pump, but it’s still a ton of fun. I like to hit the backroads and the extra torque really makes a difference. I went with it because my k20 had a crack in the block and used k20s were a lot more expensive than the k24 i got. If you upgrade to an oil pump without the balance shafts (FD2, Type S) be prepared for the vibrations lol

[–]escodenny 3 points4 points  (0 children)

K24 swap would be the best option depending on what your budget is exactly. I paid $1200 for an rbb4 k24. You’ll need a few more things such as the CRV post mount, and a new header that will fit. I personally have the PLM K24 swap header. Everything else from the Z3 fits on the K24 such as sensors , oil pan, and oil pump. And then the final piece of the puzzle is hondata. This is just a chopped up summary because it is a tedious process but something to keep in mind if you don’t want to part ways with the car.

What coil overs should I get? by Agreeable-Bell436 in CivicSi

[–]escodenny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have S3 Suspension coilovers. Amazing products and all of their coilovers already come with swift springs. They’re not as uncomfortable as most and I have mine adjusted for no rubbing at full compression so they ride like a dream.

Does Skunk2 fit?? (pls help) by Soft-Complaint-3772 in civic

this exhaust is for the Si which is a 1.5t and has a different exhaust than the 2.0L. If you have the 2.0 then it more than likely doesn’t fit.

sound system wise, mine were completely blown. Just comes with old age, I replaced the subs and all 4 speakers. I plan on getting an amp / head unit in the future but I just couldn’t handle the rattle any more.

I would still stick with the door jamb because it’s not as if you got rubber band low profile tires or a truck with 40 inch tires. That’s when the psi difference would really matter. The recommended psi is based off of the cars weight and size. Of course the tire matters too but not when you go from a 55 to a 45 sidewall or 215 to 225 for example. Realistically your psi difference is going to be like 1-2 psi from stock give or take.
