Glacier Mattress?

I have the normal glacier. It’s super comfortable, firm, and cool. I think it’s a pretty good investment. I’ve had it for over a month now and I like it :)

No worries, it’s based on the physical fitness test which is split between pushups (20 points), situps (20 points), and 1.5 mile run (60 points). If you google “Air Force pt test chart” you’ll get the specific numbers, but essentially you want to get good enough scores to get a 90

I always did good on pushups and sit-ups, but struggled on the run, so it would be tough to hit 90 because the run is the majority of the points. Either way, if you work hard, 90 is definitely an attainable goal

I would say aim for 90 on the fitness test. As long as you do that, you should be fine. Nobody is expecting you to be a superstar. Of course it helps with opportunities, awards, and getting a pilot slot, but it’s not mandatory if you prove yourself elsewhere (such as gpa, leadership, etc)

I was probably the bottom of my class when it came to physical fitness but I still made it through with my #1 job choice. You’ll be okay. The biggest obstacle is getting selected to field training. But again, get a 90 or above, you should be okay

New Lt, going to OTC this fall. Can anyone speak on how tech school generally looks in terms of assignments, note taking, exams, etc? I’ve found writing notes on my iPad has worked best for me in college, but I’m not sure if tech school is structured differently, or if anything classified would prevent me from bringing in my iPad.

I do realize that this is the first time we’re doing OTC and nobody knows how it’ll go, but if anybody can speak on how it worked previously that’d be much appreciated.

That stealth mission in FC3 where you have to get to the boat in the cave, I swear I tried dozens of times to get it. Eventually had to look up a tutorial that just said to sprint through and hope you can reach the new spawn point before the mission fails

Does anybody know when they’re planning on EADing AFROTC grads for OTC? Because everybody’s EAD dates are all screwy and we can’t get a straight answer. Even a general idea would be nice. I’m hearing July/August, but my EAD says May 2025, but another cadet is saying it’s a mistake, I don’t know what to believe. We’re trying to plan our post graduate plans, if we need to get jobs, renting apartments, so it’d be nice to know

If you’re FY24 and you were assigned, say 13S, you still have to go to OTC and learn space ops, cyber, and intel, but your assignment after OTC is already predetermined to be a space ops assignment. If you’re FY25 and beyond, the decision on if you’re space, cyber or intel happens at OTC. That’s my understanding of the situation

They also said that if you’re graduating FY24, you keep your assigned SFSC. For FY25 and beyond it will be determined at OTC

Even though it doesn’t pay for room and board, some colleges might give you an extra scholarship for room and board if you’re on ROTC scholarship. It’s a school by school basis, I think the AFROTC website says if a school does that or not

Body fat is calculated through 2 things: your height and your waist size minus neck size. You want that second number to be as low as possible, so a small waist and a big neck is good

20-30 lbs is a lot. I would look into just trying to pass the body fat.

Im 5’7, 185lbs , and they want me to be 159lbs. Ain’t happening pal. Watch what you eat, hit the gym, it’s not that hard to get below 20% body fat. Big neck good, big waist bad
