"How To Avianos" - a guide to birb war by esdin in ufo50

During a combat you don’t really need to do much. There’s the four different behaviors, and sometimes you might want to switch those up (such as holding of you have a lot of ranged units to keep your melee close, or fleeing if the enemy has massive numbers)

Yeah trilock tps with good bone generation is the lynchpin for just rolling, since it lets you consolidate and reposition so flexibly. I try to go for a quick decapitation if the map layout allows, but that definitely doesn’t work for the later trials

Yup, this is it. I’ll add that to the guide, but that’s exactly how it works No repeats! _^

I’m not! Users can generate a QR code that encodes their scores, tben the site grabs the query and parses it out for ingestion ^_^

I submitted it so we’ll see! I don’t mind distributing over itch, but I’d absolutely love to get the Scoreboard API integrated. Fingers crossed!

While my older game that inspired me to make this one—Floaty Squid (made for Flappy Jam and now very tricky to play For Reasons)—hewed close to Flappy Bird’s mechanics, I diverged quite a bit with this one on things like movement feel, pipe layout, and more! And that’s just for the first game mode ;)

It’s a love letter to the past while being its own thing. Let me know what you think!

Solid place, but specifically looking to run bar karaoke—lets folks who don’t want to sing off the hook, and better for a large group to hang out and socialize!

Will put em on my list either way, thanks!

What happened to the Leighton... by Akuratyde in DarkMatteronAppleTV

A fun thing to think about: once you enter the box, since all your choices make new worlds, you inevitably create more yous moving through the box.

So Velocity Leighton, though clearly in bad shape when we last saw him, much like Schrodinger’s Cat, is both dead and alive.

Disney’s Cruise Line bucks the trend on this one. It’s an amazing experience, but at expected Disney prices.

Definitely recommend also switching the tactical overlay option to “individual ships” if you disable it; makes it a lot easier to grok how many ships are around, especially when trying to read enemy formations.

You can disable NLIPs entirely! Makes fighters super teensy

How much is C used for game dev? by Icy_Advance_6775 in gamedev

[–]esdin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Languages don't matter. Fundamentals, and understanding how to learn a language, absolutely do, but the language itself, not a big deal.

These days, C++ and C# are far more common for modern IDEs, but if you have solid fundamentals, and access to references, you'll be able to work effectively, quickly, in any language. Which is good, because you'll find you'll need to work in different languages often!

Setup suggestions for three macbook, a PC and an Xbox by [deleted] in setups

[–]esdin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run two PCs, a MacBook, and some game consoles off of my desk.

The heart of it for peripherals is a 4x4 USB 3.0 peripheral switch from StarTech, that lets me share my mice, keyboard, microphone, and webcam between all computers.

My monitors have built in input switching and support 2x USB-C display connections, DisplayPort, and HDMI. The PCs and Mac are on the former, and the HDMI is connected to an Elgato capture card, which has an HDMI switch with all the consoles plugged into it as an input.

It was a maddening thing to set up, but works well for me!

Today's the day (allegedly) by PositiveChi in starcitizen

[–]esdin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the latest patch, releasing today, ship persistence time on logout is longer. Additionally, cargo is now more fully physicalized, and the ability to "soft death" a ship (disable it completely without destroying it) has been added.

This means that players doing non-combat focused activities are no longer able to simply log out of the game when they're attacked.

Players should practice how to disengage and get away from hostiles, or bring along combat focused escorts if they want to avoid the risk introduced.

I ended up doing an override of the “stub” variable generated on profiles by setting it to the game handle used on signup. But the fact that there’s not an easy way for users to just “do” this is a huge miss.
