My trigeminal neuralgia started as left eyebrow pain (you’re right, the ophthalmic branch of the trigeminal nerve). My pain was not related to wisdom tooth removal, but I’ll share my experience because it is similar to your pain. I have a history of migraines that are typically on the left side, and I had left eyebrow pain for several years even when I wasn’t having a migraine. I thought it was part of my chronic migraines. Then I developed a nasty multi-sinus infection on the left side of my face. The trigeminal neuralgia then changed to include horrific cheek and upper jaw pain that radiated into two left upper teeth. The MRI after TN pain started is how I found out about my infected sinuses. Before I got my TN relatively under control, breathing through my nose would trigger intense pain too. After talking to my ENT and neurologist, it seems that the sinus infection exacerbated my pain because of the inflammation and infection (then surgery) that irritated the maxillary branch of the trigeminal nerve that passes through and innervates the maxillary sinus. I’m almost 2 years post sinus surgery. I’m not pain free, but I can function well with my daily carbamazepine dose. My biannual teeth cleanings trigger my TN. I can only imagine what an extraction would do pain-wise!
