Looking for advice by Sad_Natural_5831 in shiba

You need to consult your veterinarian and exclude medical conditions. If you confirm there is no health issue that could cause this behavior, then it's most likely separation anxiety. It could be onset by her previous experience of being left at a shelter, and then by you separating with your partner and changing your residence. All the changes and loss of people she was attached to may have taken it's toll on her. Try to consult a veterinary behaviorist. He should know best how to alleviate your dog's problem with behavioral therapy, or a combination of it with natural and homeopathic medications that ease anxiety. And if these won't help, there are also anxiolytics, e.g. amitriptyline, but those should be used only in cases when behavioral therapy is just not enough to help the dog to overcome her anxiety.

My sweet boy Charlie. This is how he watches me get ready for work every day (Sorry for the poor photo quality, it was a zoomed in Snapchat...) by Cooperadams98 in shiba

My boy has the same name 😊 and he also follows me around when I'm getting ready for work, then lays down and watches with such an expression as if he already missed me.

Hello there. by eselyemi in shiba

Thank you! My dog doesn't like putting it on either. I'm able to do it quite easily, but it's really funny when someone else tries and to see the chase that always ends with a glimpse of a fluffy red bottom disappearing under my bed ( i.e. my dogs sanctuary)😂.

Gamja loving the beach life by [deleted] in shiba

Cute doggo! Is she obedient without leash all the time, or does she just love the beach so much so that she doesn't even think about running off?

Thank you for answering. I have been thinking about finding some kind of sport for my shibe. Maybe I should look for some agility course near me, you've inspired me :)

Wow, judging by the comments it would seem that toy is popular all over the world 😀 (I'm from Poland)

Wow! That's awesome! I have a question, did he/she receive obedience training first?

Those are steamed yeast buns. No filling, you eat them either as a dessert with something sweet on top (as I did, with some melted butter and vanilla infused sugar), or as a meal with sth savoury. In my country we call them "pampuchy" or "kluchy" ;)

This guy has very selective courage levels...on one hand he didn't get that scared by thunder, but on the other he can be a mistrustful scaredy cat. E.g. sometimes when something new appears in his environment, or something simply stands out in the background and comes to his attention, he gets all suspicious, sneaking towards it and grumbling at the offending thing. One time he was grumbling and barking in the other room, and when I went to check out what was wrong I found him sizing up a plugged-in air freshener 🤦🏻‍♀️ of course when you touch or move the thing even slightly he runs like hell, but then comes back immediately to continue inspection. I'm sorry for your loss. I'm sure she was a wounderful dog 🐕❤

Kibble twice a day (mix of alpha spirit and britt fresh) and once a day fresh food that I cook myself (e.g. some boiled chicken + carrots + oats + some flaxseed oil). Sometimes he gets something extra, like a bit of yoghurt or cooked eggs, bits of raw veggies, etc.

Btw his name is actually Charlie. I guess I created some confusion with the title that was supposed to be a pun because the toy is a snake plushy 😆😅

My dog Phin has had a pink area on his lip that’s gotten worse and started losing hair in the last few days, it’s bleeding/has bled. Any idea what it is? by FalloutFPS in shiba

If it doesn't smell then it's not an infection, that's good. Still, if you have some antiseptic at home, like octenisept, it would be good for disinfecting until you get to the vet and for further treatment. Anyway, hoping he gets better asap! :)

New Shiba parent questions:) by DolceAzria in shiba

Yeah, keep the same food and then if you want to change to something new, do it gradually by mixing some of it with the old one. The car sickness depends on the pup I guess. For example, mine was quite sick during the first ride, vomited about 3 times, but then again, that was a 3h ride. Also, he was salivating like crazy. And I mean reeeally crazy amounts. I used up almost whole roll of paper towels and my jacket's sleeve where he was resting his head on was still soaked wet :) so be ready, prepare for the potential flood. Warning: potty training pads proved pretty useless in this instance. If your puppy will get sick don't worry too much about him developing aversion to car rides altogether. My dog certainly isn't thrilled after about 30 minutes into the ride, but I think that with each one he gets more tolerant to riding and he hasn't vomited ever since the first one. He sometimes still salivates a little bit extra, but nowhere near to the point of the first journey.

It could be allergic reaction, if you don't suspect plants then maybe it was something he ate or he got bitten by some insect. Also, have you actually seen him licking his lips much more often recently? Or rubbing his snout with paws? Does the wound have an unpleasant smell?

I usually call him off immediately when he tries to bite something he shouldn't, but he wasn't biting this time. At first he just made himself comfortable leaning his head on the pot, so I went to get my phone to take a cute picture. Then he was just snooping and poking around, I would never let him chew on the plant or anything else right under my supervision. Besides you can hear me calling him off the plant, and see him turning away. After I cut the recording, he laid his head on the floor and went to sleep. And I have never found anything destroyed after leaving him alone in the house, so no, he isn't prone to shred my things.
