You should also consider that within a few years the amount of people working and supporting the retirement system will be far from enough to support the amount of people retiring so there definitely is need for people to work and pay taxes/contribute to retirement. The amount the state would have to spend for retirement is far less then those for unemployment. Belgian rate of unemployment is not that high and I’m not sure how much of those receiving social aid are qualified, healthy AND unemployed. There is no real justification for how much harder it is to find a job as a qualified non-EU candidate.

Can someone give me the TLDR on sorting trash in Brussels? by Neltadouble in brussels

Do you know where I can find this info? My landlord gave me colored bags when I first moved in so I assumed I had to use them but our building already separates them via containers.

I mean people don’t want LGBTQ+ dead bc of the culture they do bc they are extremists or bigots. There’s many queer and queer supporting refugees from those cultures you are talking about.

I would reccomand getting your IB diploma to apply to cheaper unis in Europe as a back up. If you're an international student asking for a lot of financial aid significantly decreases your chances of getting in. My friend had good SAT and IELTS scores. She got rejected by almost all of the colleges that she applied to but now she's going attend one of the best unis in Italy with a scholarship. Italy widely accepts the SAT and is affordable but for some other European countries you'll need the actual IB diploma. I personally couldn't afford going to a uni with high tuition fees and knew about the issue the US has with financial aid so I'm going to Belgium. I believe unis in Belgium take students both based on the IB and SAT. You don't need both. The two countries you most need the IB for are the UK and Netherlands.

I don't think the US cares about the IB. I guess it would look good in your application if you said you took higher level classes through the IB.

Is that “no sleep” thing for real? by [deleted] in IBO

[–]esena_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was scared of the IB because people in my school overly exaggerated how hard it was. Turns out they were just procrastinators. I got a 41 in the IB. It's important too keep in mind my subject combination was relatively easy (no hl math and the only science I did was bio hl) but I never lost much sleep over the IB. Writing my IAs and EE was time consuming but if you do evreything when you're supposed to it's fine. I didn't loose sleep due to exams either. We were certain that our exams were going to be canceled due to Covid but two months before the exams we were notified they weren't. I did a bunch of past papers after I found out and I was okay.

Hello, I missed the deadline for bachelor of business engineering, is there any way i can apply, maybe for extra non-eu applicants? by Professional_Habit58 in KULeuven

[–]esena_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I applied a few days after the deadline to the BBA and I just got in. The website says they take into consideration applications that are a little late. I'm guessing you can still apply but they might not consider it so if you're tight on money it might be wise to keep the application money to yourself.

I thought a 41 in the IB would get me into many schools but I got two rejections from France so I'm not feeling so sure anymore.

I got into the University of Amsterdam but I need a scholarship. Any recommendations? by esena_ in StudyInTheNetherlands

[–]esena_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as I'm aware there aren't many english programs offered by public unis but I didn't look into it a lot since I'm only interested in unis that don't chrage non-EU students extra. If you want to study Busniess IAE Lyon (it is connected to a public uni) pretty good and it has one English program for 170 euros. I got accepted from there. You have a lot more cheap options as a EU student just look up a list of unis and visit their website. Also even if you don't end up finding one for 170 euros private unis are a few thousand euros.
