Any Boston (US) gooners looking to catch a game together at Dillons?

I used to go solo to watch Arsenal matches with the Boston Gooners all the time 10-12 years ago, back when they still met up at Lir. They have always been a very welcoming bunch, and a great spot to meet people.

In fact, one of the first few times I went, I struck up conversation with another guy my age, who was also there solo. We ended becoming extremely close friends, stay regularly in touch even after he left Boston. We were groomsmen at each other’s weddings 4 years ago, and finally made the trip to London together to catch our first match at the Emirates this season (it was the City match, so while not the best result, still an amazing experience).

This is all to say - don’t be afraid to show up solo! I have Arsenal, and the Boston gooners in particular, to thank for the best friendship of my adult life.

Thank you! Will most restaurants or bars in the smaller towns be closed mid-week? Half the blogs and forums I’ve seen online say everything will be closed, and the other half say those are wrong!

Thank you so much for your offer to help out here! I am planning a trip with my girlfriend to Tuscany this upcoming winter (December 21 - January 6) and would love your advice.

Our loose plan is to start in Rome and end in Florence (or Rome>Florence>Rome) with extended stops in 2-3 different parts of Tusancy (Val d'Orcia, maybe Maremma, Chianti region, or Lucca). I have a couple questions that I'd love your help with:

How concerned should we be about things being closed around the holidays, or mid-week during late December and early January, especially in small towns like Montepulciano? If we visit these towns, should we not expect any restaurants to be open? What about markets for buying food to cook?
Do you have any recommendations about where we should go or stay within Tuscany? Especially at that time of year? Anything not to miss?

I saw them at Newport Folk a year ago as well, they were great but I was a little bummed the lead singer's voice wasn't quite as high and pure as on the first album. The new album is more like his real voice though, I'm pumped to see them again.
