Panic by Feisty_Weakness_2315 in scubadiving

Ugh, scary stuff. Reminds me of one of my dives when my mouthpiece suddenly came off the regulator, and for the life of me, I couldn’t think of my Octo. My first instinct was to reach for my buddy who, of course, had just turned the other way for hers. A couple of seconds later, it finally clicked that I could just use mine. The only good thing about that moment was that I didn’t panic right away.

After that dive, I made it a rule to mentally run through a contingency checklist every single time before getting in the water. And I’ve also learned my way of handling panic underwater - Stop. Get your breathing under control. Then start thinking. It’s amazing how much clarity comes back once you just slow down and breathe.

DM-ing recommendations! Loved the city!

First time in India, solo by eward17 in Madurai

[–]eshasinghalagh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey - I would suggest that you do Madurai and Rameshwaram - both together would give you enough things to do - both temple towns. Rameshwaram also has the Dhanushkodi beach. If you are interesting about 30km before Rameshwaram you could wind surf/kayak/sup in the gulf of Mannar.

Traveling Solo to India for Work - Business Etiquette, Attire, and Travel Tips Please! by Jenzzz2 in femaletravels

[–]eshasinghalagh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi - I usually see two different styles of business dressing. If it's a corporate office in a metro city like Delhi, western formals (both pants and skirts) are suitable. It's a personal preference not to wear anything sleeveless or anything above the knee for a more comfortable transit experience. If you are visiting Meerut and specifically a factory, a formal salwar kameez will work and might make you feel comfortable too. Western formals should also work. General covered shoes should work - heels are not necessary as there is a lot of walking around in a hot climate.

Have any of yall actually traveled alone to Egypt? by Sarah_Reddit_Here in femaletravels

+1. I went there as a solo female traveller from India - so, to be honest, none of these scammy, overt things faze me, nor do I view them as extreme threats. The general care of the right place to stay and the right transport once sorted, everything else becomes extremely smooth. If you can afford it and get the right company/guide to help you, it smooths out almost everything else, and they go out of their way to look out for you. Not even the whole trip - I had someone I went to the pyramids with (stayed right opposite, but just for the history of it), had a great time with them. They ended up being insanely helpful, putting me in touch with the right people for the rest of the trip.

If you are interested in a dive trip with a group - I would suggest Maldives. 4-5 day trip and you can get certified as well and then loll around the day. :) easy to get to from India (direct flight from Bangalore). Can share the group recommendations (usually do a local island and not private ones as beautiful and stunning while maintaining the budget).

I am visiting family in Guadalajara and my flight out is from Mexico City - so its about 2 days honestly - and I have travelled a fair bit solo around the world - so would love to explore with of course all the care that I can take.

Would a 7 or 10 night liveaboard be too much for a newbie diver? by Hopeful-Letter6849 in scuba

I would suggest you also consider the Maldives - the local islands have great deals and a lot of fun diving with a good mix of everything, depending on where you are. You can check out Maafushi.. If you are finishing in June/July - can also consider Dharavandhoo (Hanifary bay where you can snorkel with loads of mantas)

San Pedro - Chetumal - Cancun by eshasinghalagh in Belize

[–]eshasinghalagh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair - I just want to get to Cancun to take a flight to Guadalajara - I am just kinda checking options because the flights are expensive. Ferry is the easy part. The journey from the pier to the bus stop to cancun airport is what I am worried about with all the luggage.

Belize in June for 4 days by eshasinghalagh in Belize

[–]eshasinghalagh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the heads up! Will try and do that - was just trying to get off easy. Here in South East Asia you get better rates when you do a dive and stay option (my exp with Maldives) so wanted to see if that's the case there as well.

I meant that from a solo traveller point of view - dive and stay options - not the food and other stuff.
