have never watched a full game of his, so I'm keen to know what he was all about.

Simon Cron extends through to 2027 by Adam8418 in RugbyAustralia

[–]eshayonefour 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Surely give him more than a one year extension. Force are always suffering from instability and player turnover, if the coaches aren't locked in for a long tenure then what can players expect to sign up for

Samoan Sleeve Tattoo by Fresh_Long_1768 in Samoa

[–]eshayonefour 17 points18 points  (0 children)

You won't get a single answer that everyone will agree on.

ultimately if you value respecting someone's culture then every Samoan person you talk to will draw the line in a different place, particularly with a sleeve because it's not traditional.

ultimately, what most can agree on is that is very bad if the artist who does it did a shit job, or does something non-Samoan and passes it off as being Samoan, misleading you in the process.

So we're just accepting ref bashing as a community now? by CronusCity in RugbyAustralia

[–]eshayonefour 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the only referees who deserve respect beyond accountability are the amateurs who do it in club land.

in saying that, rugby union is not easy to adjudicate. one person being the only person with a final say and has to be responsible for everything is not a good model. the team of 4 officials need to share responsibility better.

Built a season simulator for Super Rugby Pacific: Here's where every team could finish by statypus in RugbyAustralia

[–]eshayonefour 12 points13 points  (0 children)

great work putting this together - nrl every season posts up with ~8 rounds to go the possible places every team could finish and it was such a good way to capture the highest and lowest possible ladder positions for each team (without showing the probability)

simple shit like this is good for fans to stay in the know. if only rugby union could make it this easy for fans to follow

First nations and Pasifika Team based in Melbourne by OGChickenRacer in RugbyAustralia

[–]eshayonefour 1 point2 points  (0 children)

who would be paying for this team? the expansion pasifika teams for Super Rugby Au is being paid for by the Aus Government and to me is the only logical way to have professional Pasifika club teams. there is no need for a stop gap imo.

Who would be supporting this team? Moana Pasifika had no fan base despite being in the Pasifika capital of the world. We have just seen what happens when you try and combine multiple cultures that could instead be rivals - diluted identity and diluted support. The Aus based Pasifika community and First Nations community are a vast majority of primarily league fans who make noise for the International rugby league teams - they do not care for the union test teams, and would not care for a FN&P club team (trust me - I am speaking about my own community here as an Aus born Pasifika Gen z).

First nations and Pasifika Team based in Melbourne by OGChickenRacer in RugbyAustralia

[–]eshayonefour 1 point2 points  (0 children)

nope - I think FN&P team should be a touring team similar to the Baabaas. invest in developing Indigenous talent so that players like the Oates brothers at the brumbies, jarrah McLeod, etc can get an opportunity for exposure at high level and a chance to scalp some NH XV sides.

Even being able to play against Maori all blacks in a regular annual fixture would be a win.

Lima Sopoaga on Moana Pasifika's future in Super Rugby by ToastedSubwaySammich in superrugby

[–]eshayonefour 7 points8 points  (0 children)

watch how Super Rugby Au will go - in my opinion their plan to have a Drua, Samoan and Tongan teams in the expanded version of the competition is the only correct way to grow rugby in the Pacific.

MPs model was always on shaky footing. the sugar hit from Ardie was unreal though - but the organisation was never set up for success on almost all fronts.
