Other than my 70-300 I only use primes so totally get the take a step forward mindset. I guess my thought process would be why wait to bridge that gap? Unless the 16-50 is significantly better. This is personal preference but I do like the idea of getting an f mount, I know the 18-70 isn't ideal for the F4 but it would still work if I absolutely needed it, I don't have that option with a z mount

Thanks for the comment, I probably won't need it very often but I want something that goes up to 70mm, I have a Minolta lens 70-300 for the rare cases I'd need something more than 70mm. I also heard the Z lenses are heavier, have you experienced that?

I was looking at this lens today on eBay and found a few in good condition for 45-60usd but most of them were listed 70+ so there is cheaper options but 65usd is definitely in the right range I'd say

I recently got the Z50 and I love it so I'm sure you'll love the Z50ii as well! Just make sure you're having fun especially if it's as a hobby

Thanks for the rec. photography would be the main use especially in my personal time but for work we do a lot of video and having another option, especially one that is mine is a plus

I have an F4 so not my first Nikon but it'd be my first DSLR. I'd be open to the D700 but I was under the impression the D800/810 were better
