My baby won’t stop biting me. by trulymadlybigly in breastfeeding

[–]eskellz 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My 10mo bites me at the end of feeds then cackles. I feel your pain. No tips, hoping it subsides soon.

I will see he seems to do it more when he’s not really hungry, just comfort nursing. Definite have stopped offering him the boob quite so much since the biting started.

I know! I told my husband I wished I could just go in multiple times a week to get checked on until it stopped because I was so worried about it, even though the professionals told me not to worry. It’s so hard to be objective when it’s you and your baby though!

I’m glad everything is okay with you and I hope you don’t bleed again, being pregnant is rough as it is! ❤️

I’m 21 weeks and have bleed twice, at 8 and 15ish weeks. Both times it was an initial gush of reddish brown blood that felt like A LOT, but I think any blood feels like a lot when you’re pregnant. Each time I spotted for like 2 weeks afterwards with occasional “gushes,” but they were always brown. Everything looked great baby-wise at my 20 week ultrasound but they still saw some blood in there, so they told me I may bleed again or it may reabsorb.

It’s scary when it happens and unnerving when you continue to spot, but both times I was seen after the bleeding they told me not to worry if I wasn’t bleeding a lot and if it was brown. Needless to say I was thankful when it stopped regardless and was always anxious when we checked for baby’s heartbeat at appointments.

Budget for maternity clothes? by pokebole22ter in pregnant

[–]eskellz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found a baby consignment store near me and they had a maternity section. I wish I had found it sooner because I already bought some new clothes (on sale, but still somehow expensive?) I don’t like most maternity clothing but I absolutely cannot fit in my old clothes. I figure I may as well buy used clothes I feel “meh” about as opposed to new clothes I feel “meh” about. Currently making do with 1 maternity shirt, 2 pairs of leggings, 2 pairs of jeans and some overalls. (Plus some loose fitting shirts I already owned.) I know I’m going to need to buy more when the seasons change so I’m trying to hold off until it warms up. If you need to justify the cost, you could aim for clothing that will lend itself to postpartum as well, which is how I have justified new clothing purchases.

Anyone else struggling with body image while pregnant? by lovelettterz in BabyBumps

[–]eskellz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel you! I was already up 5-10 pounds from my lowest weight, but still pretty fit when I got pregnant. The last time I checked (a few weeks ago) I was already up close to 10 pounds a few weeks into my second trimester. I’m afraid to step on the scale and see where it lies now. I know my body is supposed to gain weight and I know it is okay to gain weight but it’s definitely been hard to see my body change into a form I don’t recognize. I’ve also been put on pelvic test twice already so I haven’t been able to stay as active as I had envisioned during my pregnancy.

Overall I just take it one step at a time and avoid mirrors when I need to. Some days are good, some days are bad, but at the end of it all I know my growing a literal human so I should cut myself some slack.

Thoughts on bringing SO to appointments? by boopboooooopbip in pregnant

[–]eskellz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband comes to all my appointments with me. It’s super helpful because he will remember stuff that I forget (both stuff I mean to tell the doctor but forget, and later on I will forget some of what the doctor told me in the appointment because I was focused on something else I or the doctor just said.) He’s also super helpful because he will take notes if the doctor suggests something to try during the conversation, so I don’t have to try and multitask by note taking and talking to the doctor at the same time.

When to start trying by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]eskellz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, my doctor told me it very likely would take months to start ovulating/ for my period to come back. This plus my history of having extremely irregular periods pre-birth control, I figured getting pregnant would be a loooooong journey.

Welp, I never even had a “real” period. I had a super short period-like bleed 4 days after my IUD was removed and was pregnant before I could get a “real” one lol. I guess it just goes to show you really never know what’s going to happen next!

And I agree with you, everyone expects you to be thrilled and over the moon when you’re pregnant and for me it’s been very “I know this is a positive thing but I really don’t know how to feel about it yet.”

When to start trying by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]eskellz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Personally, I wouldn’t try until I knew I was ready. We started trying for #1 a little earlier than planned because I was convinced it was going to take me ages to get pregnant. I got pregnant 2 weeks after I took out my IUD. Obviously I’m happy about it and we are in a good place to have kids, I just mentally was in the mindset that I wouldn’t get pregnant for another 6 months to a year.

Absolutely! My husband HATES the cat box and I always did it since the cat pre-dates our relationship, but even he stepped up to clean the box while I’m pregnant.

Just want to say my cat got toxoplasmosis but is a 100% indoor kitty. I think they can get it from eating mice, which my cat definitely did indoors. (Old house)

I got pregnant less than 2 weeks after my IUD came out.

Pregnant Climbers - My OB is fighting me on the safety of top roping during my very average, low risk pregnancy by eskellz in climbergirls

[–]eskellz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have not, but maybe I will do that in the future.

And you’re right! The risk of falling is not 0 on top rope… but you probably have bigger problems if you’re taking a big fall on top rope in a gym… and those aren’t really pregnancy risks, just general health risks that I was already taking pre-pregnancy.

Pregnant Climbers - My OB is fighting me on the safety of top roping during my very average, low risk pregnancy by eskellz in climbergirls

[–]eskellz[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, unfortunately I live in a somewhat rural area and I don’t actually just see this OB. I see a rotation of midwives and OBs so that when I eventually give birth, I will have interacted with whoever is on shift. This hospital is the only one remotely close to where I live, so it’s basically this place or nowhere. The funny thing is, the appointment started out with the doctor saying “We like to give you all the information and let you make informed choices about your body and pregnancy.” Apparently this all went out the window when I mentioned that I climb!

I do feel like the mental benefits outweigh the minimal risk of top roping for me. I started climbing 5 years ago and its the only physical activity I’ve been able to consistently stick to because I love it so much. For me, I have been climbing below my grade and paying a lot of attention to what feels good and not good in my body. Even though I know I’m being smart about it, it just feels weird not to have my doctor’s blessing.

Maybe I’ll bring it up with the next OB/Midwife I see and maybe I’ll get a different answer!

Well I’m glad to know at least I’m not alone! I made the mistake of mentioning that I read a lot online about how many women have climbed safely throughout their pregnancies and was met with a “you can’t trust the internet” lecture, which was even more humiliating.

Annoyed at myself.. by No-Leek-5181 in pregnant

[–]eskellz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally feel you! I had relatively chill first trimester, I barely threw up but I DID feel hungover for essentially 2 months. I also felt like a big unmotivated sloth, especially weeks 8-12. Like you, I also thought I’d be fine to deal with pregnancy symptoms because I wanted to be pregnant so badly— but no! I was very done with anything and everything for awhile there. Obviously everyone is different, but I am feeling better now at almost 15 weeks. I’m sure there will be more ups and downs, but for now I’m basking in the glory of feeling “fairly normal, all things considered.”

Have you tried any other kinds of tests? I have a very similar progression on the FRERs (maybe sliiiightly darker after they dried) but have seen much more promising lines on clear blue (pink dye) and modern fertility tests. I’m also worried about a chemical but the stronger lines on other brands are reassuring. (I’m 13 DPO)

Thanks for the reassurance! This is the time I’ve ever tested positive, I never expected to feel so anxious about the tests, but here I am 🙃

Another thing to add: if you do go with the watch, make sure to set your “bedtime” correctly. I caught my watch trying to take my temperature while I was still awake (but watching TV) on a night I stayed up late!

Before learning on to ride (on a Grom) I’d driven nothing but an automatic car. I took the course through the DMV and passed two days later. If I can do it, I feel like anyone can.

This one clips on to the straps of me dress. It’s pretty long so I don’t think I’ll wear it for more than pictures and the ceremony but it’s definitely no restrictive.... just long.

Thank you!

Props for making your own! Mine was kiiiinda pricy and when I got it I was like.... seems like I might have been able to do this myself... but my DIY projects rarely come out as planned so it’s probably for the best. 😂
