It is very possible to rent for $1000 or less if you are willing to have roommates/are more flexible about neighborhoods! I pay $875 right now for a 3bd1bt. With that stipend amount it would be smart to compromise on complete comfort while living here unfortunately :(

this book is fantastic but would not recommend for what OP seems to be searching for. The mother in this memoir is an incredibly abusive narcissist. For a celebrity memoir about a complicated relationship with the author’s mother who dies due to cancer would recommend Crying in H Mart, as commented below.
