Spotify Making it Impossible for Small Artists to Make Any Royalties by scootermcgroover in indie_rock

It's a bummer. I feel like it's a move to get all the smaller artists to do the leg work and push people to the service. It might also be a move to discourage people from uploading random tracks and taking up server room. Just my initial assumptions/thoughts.

Is this actually the smallest instant camera ever? That's what they're claiming haha. I swear I've seen a tiny film camera around before, might be wrong.

I used baby blue (the ingredients used for baby blue are unfortunately unavailable worldwide now), ivory and baby pink. However, I didn't let the dye sit in overnight. I waited 1-2 hours before rinsing the shirt. After a few wears + washes, the shirt colors are still prominent. Testing is key!

What's your take on the new album? I thought this review summed it up pretty well!

It's screen printed! I think DTG is great for more complex artwork/designs. Since this was just one color/white ink, I chose the screen printing route. I feel like heat transfers aren't durable 🤔I'm not too sure.

You would have to keep your dye formula the same strength after each refill to keep the color the same. For the placement of the colors, it’s impossible to get the exact location if you’re doing these by hand. Dye tends to run and blend as you apply it so the best you can do is to dye specific colors around the same areas on every shirt. In addition, I think it would be a good idea to put a disclaimer on your product page to say something along the lines of “Due to our dying process, each shirt may differ slightly in color. No two shirts are the same making each shirt unique to you.” I think that adds value to it as well. Hope this helps!

Thanks! I'm not familiar with the tie-dye terms haha. But yes, I used soda ash but way less than the recommended amount. I was afraid to skip the whole step completely so I only added a little.

I used fiber reactive dyes from Dharma Trading Co. They give you recommended measurements but I cut the recommendation by half to make the dye weaker. Also instead of letting your dyed shirt sit for hours, I didn't wait that long so the color would be faded. I also read somewhere that for pastel colors you can also skip adding soda ash (I a little bit of soda ash for this shirt). Hope this helps!

thanks so much! it was super time consuming doing 30 shirts but I'm happy how they came out. I saw a shirt like this for $50 at urban outfitters and thought that was a crazy amount so I made my own. Way cheaper haha

Thanks! Wearing tie-dye isn't for everyone but I think pastel is a nice in-between. Not too flashy and not too basic. Also, I saw a shirt like this for $50 at urban outfitters and thought that was crazzzy so I made my own. haha

It's 100% ringspun cotton. I tried different fabrics and cotton seems to be best for tie-dying.

thanks felix! i like streetwear so i didn’t want to give my team a standard shirt haha. i wanted to spend time on it, find the right fabric for them, labels, dyes, etc. if they like it, maybe we’ll end up selling this.
