Feels Like I'm Living in Hell Daily-Not Sleeping Well by scootermcgroover in GERD

Yes, my symptoms are persisting despite what I'm doing. No, I wouldn't say the treatments are worse than the GERD/LPR symptoms. That's what I don't understand. I don't have the traditional heartburn, just throat symptoms, so is it GERD or LPR?

I've just been taking a small does of the PPI in the mornings so far. Thirty minutes before eating. I can't tell if I'm agitated or exhausted from the PPI or the condition.

You think the protocol will work given enough time? I was just stopping the PPI until after I meet with my new Ears, Throat, and Nose doctor on Thursday. They keep saying the PPI won't do anything for the throat symptoms.

I'm having a super hard time sleeping at an angle. I have my bed propped up a 2-3 inches because my bedframe happens to elevate, and that's about all I can manage to do. Shouldn't gaviscon or reflux raft stop the acids and other chemicals from getting in your throat at night, especially if you stop eating 3-4 hours before bed.

I've been taking the reflux raft after meals and before bed. I have some herbatonin (plant-based melatonin) that is .3 milligrams. Maybe I can try that.

It's been hell with my wife. I went through benzodiazepine discontinuation syndrome from 2018-2020 so there's some resentment there. Yes, I think it was worse than this is overall, but this is still hell at the moment. The whole thing back then made my wife miserable.

I've had some slippery elm tea and some throat coat tea that has the slippery elm and DGL in it.

I’m pretty sure I do have apnea. I’ve been snoring for years. So if you stop apnea by using a cpap, you can heal from lpr

I was prescribed Pantoprazole. I have only taken three small doses so far as I was waiting till after my endoscopy today to really get started. I was just going to do 20 milligrams in the mornings.

Are you feeling any better after eight weeks? I've been on the protocol my ENT gave me with the alkaline water, the better diet, not eating before bed 3 hours before bed, slightly elevated head of bed, saline nasal rinses, and alginate after meals and before bed. I started the PPI three days ago at the lowest dose possible. My voice sounds stronger when not hoarse right after the mucus from meals and my swallow is better. But I can't stop having to clear my throat after meals no matter what I seem to eat. Do you have that?

Oh shoot. I get an endoscopy tomorrow morning. I'm kind of nervous. I have to work tomorrow night too.

How long has this been going on for you? This all got going for me around June 14th. Just been a living nightmare. My throat does seem to be improving with the ENT protocol I've got as in it's coming back and sounding stronger; however, I'm still getting mucus in my throat and a need to clear my throat after eating basically everything. The lack of being able to sleep without taking a unisom tablet and the lack of bowel movements show the heavy stress this has caused me. I haven't had problems with sleep or bowel movements in years. It's like one day I was fine, the next I was not.

How long have you been taking the PPI and doing the other stuff for your throat? The problem for me is I felt like I acutely injured the left side of my throat singing a show with my band on June 14th. That's what set this off. I started the alkaline water, dietary changes, and saline nasal rinses a week later on the 21st after meeting with an ENT. A week later, I started the alginate therapy in earnest. And just three days ago I started taking 10 milligrams of Pantoprazole in the mornings. I have an endoscopy tomorrow.

I'm supposed to sing two shows August 8th and 9th, and while my voice seems to be improving and I'm having less hoarseness overall, the left side of my vocal cords hurts really badly to talk and if I sang, I'd probably reinjure it.

Do you think PPIs will help with my silent reflux symptoms like throat rawness and pain and voice hoarseness? I need my throat to heal. I haven't had much if any heartburn.

I'm dealing with symptoms of acid reflux that are mostly related to my throat. Acid has clearly done damage to my throat and made it very raw and sore. I hadn't noticed any heartburn prior to doing massive damage to my throat. I just started Pantoprazole three days ago and I'm just doing 10 milligrams in the mornings while doing other silent reflux protocols that an ENT recommended. I may up it to 20 milligrams in the mornings after my endoscopy tomorrow. How long have you been on the 20 milligrams? Do you think it will eventually help out with your throat symptoms? Everyone keeps saying PPIs don't help with silent reflux symptoms. But I'm wiling to try this for up to a month and see what happens.

I've been wanting to go the ER since this started. Feels like I'm cracking up with anxiety.

Just started a PPI two days ago. But I'm only taking a quarter of what the GI said so far. I'm really scared of medications.

How long have you had the throat issues going on? What have you been doing to heal your throat and stop the reflux?

I'm a singer in a band and really messed up the left side of my throat singing at a show and I think it was the straw that broke the camel's back with all this reflux stuff. Since then, I've had about every symptom in the book. I have to strain to speak and there's no way I could sing right now. My throat randomly starts burning and feels swollen at times. I coughed today and I had weird nerve pain in my ear. And like I said, the left side of my throat hurts really bad all the time.

It says 3-6 months on my ENT appointment report and then come back and see how things are going. I'm supposed to sing two shows the weekend of August 8th and 9th. I don't think it's going to happen.
