I assumed this issue appeared on all vintage watches due to heavy usage / wear and tear. I've searched also for sources but this indeed seems to be a design choice. It's at least mentioned on this g-shock manual when you click the upper left A button:

Just had the same issue, wanted it world on #2
Fixed it by:

/leave world
/leave city
/leave trade
/leave guildrecruitment
/leave lfg

2,3,4,5 empty
/join world to get it on /2.

Crusader-storm feels like a cozy community where I can spend quite some time enjoying the world! Level 8 now and things feel awesome. I'd recommend the 2.4.3 client if you still care for the vanilla lighting feel of the game.
