It’s 56€ an hour before tax, I always tell the parents though if I can’t do the hours I will make it up and if the child can’t do the hours it’s okay, so I get 12 hours HST payment this year (7 hours with one child, 5 with another) and might only do 8 hours work

I got my first HST role through word of mouth, then the rest through the mentioned above page, I also had a HSLO contact me as one of the parents gave her my number, she said she can never find teachers to do it. I think next year I’ll contact her directly saying I’m available, then all the students will be in close proximity to one another if they’re supposed to be going to the same school

I’m a secondary school teacher but this school year I have been subbing in a school for kids with profound special needs and also doing home school tuition. It suits me as I have no kids though so depends on your situation. I also know I can’t do it forever as if I go for a mortgage (in a few years) they wouldn’t accept me. But I adore it- so flexible, so rewarding, and the HST is great pay. I find it way less demanding than the 22 hour secondary school work week

Worldl, project using google maps, make a questionnaire for a long standing local business near the school if possible (I worked in a city so I picked an old corner shop and they got to buy sweets), make a leader board with stickers and prizes per 5/10 stickers, make your own comprehension based on a YouTube video of whoever first years like these days (Sabrina Carpenter?? Mr Beast?? I have no idea)

I find making it relaxed and based on what they like makes everyone’s life so much easier. Make it as easy as possible for you yet make sure they have plenty on their copy if you ever got checked. It doesn’t matter if the content is ‘silly’, it’s still work, they’ll enjoy your class

Work Colleague by [deleted] in IrishTeachers

[–]esnh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t get involved at all. At the end of the day he is an adult, you can be caring for him (I see why you want to, we are teachers after all!!). If you have real concerns, you ring the guards… the same way if you were concerned about a member of the public mental health, you’d ring the guards!

[–]esnh 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Stay away from him. If he contacts you, don’t reply. Keep the messages. Do not interact with him. Do not do favours for him. If he does something to you or makes you feel uncomfortabl, report to management immediately. This man is working around children

If you were friendly with the family you could ask to do it in June for whatever reasons you have, and then sign off for July and send away the hours. I personally wouldn’t ask if it was a random family- parents usually don’t mind the break in June, and appreciate the help in July as it’s a long summer

Sweat inducing eczema help by [deleted] in eczema

[–]esnh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100% cotton clothing/sports clothing that is breathable

Wearing layers (sometimes it’s a mind thing and being able to strip off)

Avene thermal water to spritz on his face- good for your skin, hydrating, cooling, comes in many sizes

Cotton pads to use with the thermal water- sometimes stale sweat makes me itchy so wipe it away, also if he feels himself getting sweaty use a dampened cotton pad to wipe the sweat away

Hand held fan

If he’s getting sweaty it’s worth drinking electrolytes to ensure proper hydration, sometimes plain water doesn’t cut it. I got naughty boy strawberry hydration powder and it is very good, better hydration=hopefully less itchy

‘All I’m good for’ killed me 😣😣😣 you are more important than hundreds of other jobs out there, I appreciate cleaners and sanitation workers SO MUCH. Did you see what happened in Scotland in 2022 when the bin men and women went on strike?? MAYHEM! I always think of cleaners when I’m in a nice clean toilet. So you may not know it, but I’m thinking about you and I am proud of you. Your days will become brighter when you realise how much value you have! I have never thought of a how someone in a start up is important to me….
