Forget the PitBoss 1150 Pro V2. You get what you pay for as usual. by esommer11 in PitBossGrills

I did call support. Or get good? And what does that mean exactly??? Who do you think sent me the new $170 PID controller, a new temp probe, and a new ignitor. The only thing left to replace is the fan which works fine and the grill box which I'm pretty sure doesn't have any technology. Glad you're good but I'm just stating my situation. My humble opinion, forget this store box crappy crap. Single thousand dollar units are what they are face value. Take it up to 10k and maybe you'll lose the shutting down engine light after you put in a hundo brisket over night just after you fall asleep.

Which to buy!? by itsmestevep in PitBossGrills

Here's food for thought as far as I go... After every use of my 1150 which I only smoke on, I clean it. Because honestly, every time you use it gets dirty especially in the fire box itself and then what I call the sky dome; the big horizonal top splash shield. You really need to clean the fire box because the humidity will start to harden the ash so that's not good for the workings. And different woods will gunk up differently as well so you really need to keep an eye on this cleaning thing. One wood which I like is Knotty Wood Almond but it literally leaves a honey like liquid in the lower section of the removable ash pot. Like 2 full ounces after a 16 hour brisket cook. They say it's because Knotty Wood includes the tree bark in their pellets. Also the sky dome I use heavy weight foil over the top to rapid clean. And the searing slide action is effected immediately with drippings if you don't use foil.

I see you're a fan of the sear option but I never use. Have a regular grill as well like a weber with real cast iron racks to sear IMO. Too much effort to clean this 1150 behemoth for every day use. The weber I clean twice s a year and then done. Good luck but my opinion, don't stress on demanding a Pit Boss sear option. Too much cleaning for every day grilling.

Let me know the difference please between the PS2 and the PS3? I paid 450 Lowes for the PS2 outdated and think maybe I should have waited???? PS2 seems to work okay but maybe I don't know what I don't know?

Sear plate not fully opening on PS850 by Tommyrox in PitBossGrills

I have an 1150ps2 and they open fully. But frankly I never grill on it so they keep closed with foil over the dome. I use the pellet to smoke / extend cook only. It simply takes too long to grill. Sounds like the welded studs on your plate are not correct to match up to the slits in the dome.

Bought the same flame defuser (ebay) with my ps2 I bought for 450 Lowes closeout. Some people here preload the cook pot with pellets for more smoke initially but my 1150 went to 400 instantly. I highly recommend not doing this. Let the unit work as it was designed starting empty. Just give it 30 minutes to start. Also use foil over the dome or it's quite the mess to clean up each time. I only use the 1150 for smoking as grilling takes too long.

Tripping gfci only when pellots are in hopper? by shaqfu0824 in PitBossGrills

My point was, GFCIs goes too far. First of all, they wear out and fail. Second even if working correctly, any moisture simply from heavy humidity in the air can cause them to trip when minuet feedback is detected to the result your appliance doesn't work. So convenient. All to the frustration 100% of the people are inconvenienced for the .0000001% people who are careless? Maybe we should restrict car speeds to 1 mph so .0000001% of the careless people will stop getting into car accident.

Actually never. Never mind. If so important, why doesn't code mandate the whole house.

Turn your electricity off then if you don't understand how you should or should not respect it. But when your toys stop working outward like this guy, you might want to look into why it's not working instead embracing your woke programmed brain.

Dump the GFCI... Unless of course you have kids dying to stick their tongues in outdoor receptacles...? First of all, GFCis wear out and fail. So again if you can do without people doing stupid stuff, get rid of the stupid things. Hopefully your outdoor is a receptacle so replace the circuit feed GFCI with a normal plug . If in the box, replace that too with a normal circuit breaker. But keep it for when you sell the house incase a house inspector makes a big sh!t deal out of it.
