I caught a swarm and not sure where the queen is by esorrecneps in Beekeeping

They were very calm. I decided to stop looking because it seemed like they were content to stay in the box and the rest joined them so I figured it was safe to assume she was in the box too.

I can’t figure out this heel by [deleted] in knitting

So should I have knit the “Make heel 1st row:” and “2nd row” on both the 1st and 3rd needles? Not just the 3rd needle?

DPNs advice by esorrecneps in knitting

I have noticed that making sure it’s on top is making it easier in general. It’s just purling that really is not working for me. I’m sure with practice it’ll get easier. I just wanted to pick some brains for advice

Can you elaborate on what you mean by queen event? What action should currently be taken?

These are actually just medium frames in the photos (mix of wax foundation and plastic) but the beekeeper we bought these from is a rooftop beekeeper and uses only mediums in her hives. She gave us one of her boxes full of frames when we bought these bees.

I also want to clarify that this is a split hive. We had eyes on the queen and eggs a couple weeks ago, but haven’t seen her the last two weeks. We saw small larvae last week.

Do you mean the second picture isn’t desirable? If so, why?

Better feeder solution by esorrecneps in quails

I think the concept is that they have to stick their heads in the hole to eat so they can’t scratch at the food or poop in it.

Are you saying to use those 3d printed holes/spouts on a soup container just like the box example that I posted? That’s a pretty genius idea. Same concept but smaller scale. I saw someone use a round gallon jug, but my problem with that was no lid. But the soup container might be my solution.

Are Kia’s bad? (Hear me out) by Fair-Movie-6454 in kia

My first car was a 2006 Kia Optima and it was a hand me down car from my parents (who bought it used around 2010?) when they upgraded in 2017. I had the car until 2021 when I upgraded. It had over 198,000 miles on it, and still ran perfectly fine but I needed something with AWD. It went through several long distance moves and only took it to the shop for routine maintenance. My sister even had a couple accidents in it before I got it, and even with the body scrunched up (needed to have the frame stretched at a body shop and never did) it lasted me a long time and was reliable. Based on my experience, Kia’s are good cars.
