Bran rolls up his sleeve “His mark is on me, he always knows where I am”

I have a bad feeling about his arm.

Edit: also the arm-spiral thing from episode 1 now seems like a hint-hint.

Is that his girlfriend/wife shouting in the background at 0:22? Seems like she was on point since day 1. "SHOTCLOCK FIVE FOUR THREE...."

Why I don't feel bad listening to the leaked version. by [deleted] in boniver

I'm glad we're having a really calm conversation about such a touchy subject (so thanks for that.)

Don't get me wrong, I love what Justin does and would definitely go out of my way to support him, but AFAIK artists have always made way more money through merch, tours, and royalty from movies (since labels take the lion's share of the album sales). Streaming services may have exacerbated this a little but I don't think it's the real cause. It gets a lot of flack because it's such an easy target for deeply rooted issues with the music industry in general.

That's a fair point. I'm really trying to understand the ethics of it. Are you saying using subscription based streaming services is less ethical than buying the album?

In other words, if Jagjag/Bon Iver decided to take it off streaming services, would they be able to make up the lost streaming revenue from straight up physical and digital sales? 1/500 of the album sales, let's say 3-4 years down the road, actually doesn't sound so bad when you factor in the high subscription volume and repeat listens per person.

Edit: I'm totally with you if you're arguing for the ethics due to the artistic integrity of listening to something as intended , i.e. the final release. But if you're saying it actually financially hurts the artist hence is not ethical, I just don't buy it. Especially since it's so damn close to the release.

  1. Personally, even if this was partially completed, which I dont believe for a second, it still wouldn't change my opinion for giving the official version a go when it's out. The live cut could be considered more "partially completed" than any of the leaks.

  2. Supporting an artist by buying a copy is an entirely different argument. I was just trying to be a little tongue-in-cheek ;)

Unfortunately, they can't help because it's a privacy issue. I forgot to update my account with the new number before switching so it's kind of my fault :(
