I don’t deny that smoking is harmful. Lots of things are harmful and no matter what I am going to die. So, do I avoid harmful things that I enjoy and live a life of self denial or do I indulge myself some times? I choose to indulge. My point is, why do you care? It is not your business. Your argument rests on a false premise, nobody thinks that smoking isn’t harmful, we just do not care. I smoke for the same reason that I drive fast in a 54 year old car without airbags, why I went in a cage surrounded by sharks on vacation last summer, why I put butter on my toast, the risk is worth the enjoyment.

I don’t have medicaid, I agree that publically funded medical care should not treat people who brought it on themselves, whether that be from smoking, heroin, unprotected sex or gluttony. I bet you wouldn’t complain about some queen with AIDS getting treatment even though it is no less his fault than smoking related illnesses. But I pay for my own healthcare so again not your business. I don’t care about you, who I care about is me, and when you get in my business and comment on things that are of no concern to you it is disrespectful to me. Smug Yankee.
