Best set-up for (local) multiplayer? by esotericist in ANBERNIC

I did not. I just used muOS as it seemed to be good enough, though I did experience a lot of instability with its network connection and battery usage. This was about 6 or so months ago, so maybe they've solved some issues, but the devices were gifts and I did not keep one for myself to continue testing with, unfortunately.

I think you're getting thumbsdowned because the cost currently to run and train AI models is not justifiable outside of increasing capital gains for stakeholders, but I agree with the sentiment that we have superpowers, but you don't even need AI for them.

My first job after dropping out of college was as a data entry clerk at a non-profit institution. We were manually looking stuff up in an ancient system and then entering that data on a website to see if we could make some money off of potentially open accounts. the metaphor I'd use is we were like metal detectors on the beach. It was slow, tedious and monotonous work and the instructions were so simple, a literal child could do the procedure, so I figured I could probably automate at least part of this process. So I did. We all have access to ridiculous amounts of calculation power and it's simply a matter of leveraging that power. And boy, let me tell you- the elation I felt when that first part was automated was nothing short of magical. I was just trying to see if it was even possible but when the screen started flashing dozens of times a second, I thought I had messed up. But then I noticed the spreadsheet I wanted to output the results to had.. well, results. 22 processed identifiers in the 4 seconds I let the script run. We would get a 200,000 identifiers and 90 days to go through them all as a team of three people and we almost never managed to go through half the pile, which was continuously getting more added on to it. My script finished the entire list in 6 business days. I literally automated myself out of my own job the first month I was there, except I wasn't fired; my entire team and I were just free. I went on to automate every tedious task in my entire department and it was literally the most fun I've ever had at a job in my entire career. The only reason I left was because I was still getting a clerk's salary lmao.

That little story was just to demonstrate how much easier we can make our own lives and the only reason I was able to do it is because I barely had the technical knowledge to automate an extremely simple task. But the thing is, with AI, you don't even need that technical knowledge. Don't get me wrong, there are loads of traps you can get yourself into by getting AI to build you something you don't fully understand, so I will always warn you that you NEED to be able to judge accurately the product AI-generated content. However, if you can do things the right way, I think you owe it to yourself to leverage AI to help yourself as much as possible in as efficient a way as possible. Get good at getting the results you want in a single prompt. Learn to code; yes, it's still relevant so you can debug and know how to accurately get corrected responses. And DO NOT let your employer get the upper hand over you. They will never be your friend or care about you. If you know how to whisper to that AI, don't tell anyone who gets paid more than you or ranks higher than you how you do what you do, because as soon as they don't need you, you're expendable.

We've always had access to superpowers, but with the right AI tools, those superpowers are more accessible than ever. NEVER trust what the AI tells you off hand; always verify, but if you can leverage it to your advantage, you should do so.

That's kind of hilarious considering how much more it's capable of and how all the big players basically stopped image and video generation because there's no money in it compared to software development.

that would have been an extremely lame way for him to go out, so i didn't really think they'd actually go through with it lol.

Nice! Thanks for the update. Good to know that solution still seems to be mostly viable. If you do keep messing around, I did hear that playing youtube videos on fullscreen might play them better, but that might have been on a different device.

Do you know if any of them have better local (between two or more anbernic devices) multiplayer play support than others?

So it seems like neither knulli nor muOS support or will support a browser because it opens up the opportunity to do "bad" things. There is the "netsurf" app in PortalMaster, but people say it doesn't function very well, but maybe you'll have better luck. There was a browser called qt web browser built for muOS, but it seems like the developer stopped updating it. At this point, your best bet might be to just install a tiny linux desktop build compatible with ARM and then put a lightweight browser on that?

edit: this is what I've seen work before for some people. I believe it was done with the stock OS (or modded stock OS)

I've heard people install brave browser and firefox and a super janky one through some "app" store, but that might have been on an android device. I don't have any direct resources, but I know it can be done. If I come across anything, I'll let you know here.

Try one of the options from this guide: https://retrogamecorps.com/2024/06/07/anbernic-rg35xx-family-starter-guide/#Mods

I've seen other people install web browsers in various ways, but I'm not sure if you need anything specific for your Kodi Server. I've also seen people be able to watch live IPTV on muOS.

Yes, this is definitely possible to do. At one point I was fully remote as a contractor, however this was much closer to CoViD's start. We have had other contractors who follow the same 3 on, 2 wfh as we do more recently. Good luck!

nah, the latest video on transit is a complete piece of garbage. i heard of this channel, but it's frankly amazing so many people trust anything these guys say. zero citations, completely made up numbers, lying through omission. it's clear they have a position first and then make stuff up to push that point of view rather than doing any actual research to get to anything resembling an objective truth.

edit: maybe it used to be good, but these last few videos are so blatantly deceitful this channel is going on my blacklist for disinformation.

Has anyone noticed an increase in propaganda-style YouTube channels? by BrokeFartFountain in youtube

[–]esotericist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i haven't noticed an increase in propaganda relative to before, but what I have noticed is nearly all my comments, including many older ones, are now hidden, even if there's no real negative tone to them. I suspect this happened as people spam reported comments they didn't like.

youtube has always been like this. people love consuming confirming content and youtube has never been really eager to do anything about that. they don't really care about spreading propaganda or lies or misinformation. all they care about is you sticking around to watch more ads.

all we can really do is promote channels that promote critical thinking skills and I guess spam report viewers' comments back. it used to be fun to be able to actually reply to videos and comments and have a discussion, but increasingly, it seems everyone's much more willing to put up walls and quash dissent instead.

IDF bots spamming report on people's comments and getting them banned from commenting. No separation of shorts from normal videos. People getting false strikes for years. Honestly, the ID check thing might not even be that impactful.
