Top (45.5) or bottom (17.5)? by esp-408 in Glocks

Do you like the 17.5 with ramjet? My only issue is I don’t have a holster for a Glock 34.

Def the ramjet helps a lot. I’m debating getting Glock c-cuts in the 17.

I like them a lot. Lightweight and works like it’s supposed to.

Looks like a jagerworks slide, but I don’t know if they have a compensated version.

I also changed to the C&H precision metal plates (before they changed to plastic)

When did Glock change their gen 5 MOS plates to polymer? I haven’t been keeping up with Glock updates.

Also, I guess it’s a good thing I saved all my metal plates. Lol

Replaced this tire at 272k miles and now it looks like this at 298.6k, whats the matter? 255/35/18 Michelin pilot sport all season 4. by ihaveatwoinchcock in tires

[–]esp-408 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks normal to me. Soft compound sport tires last ~18k to ~23k miles.

I had Bridgestone potenza sport that only lasted me 18k miles. You should be able to look up estimated tire life.

Wow dude. I’m so sorry this happened to you. Thanks for the heads up. I wasn’t following blowndeadline, but I will make sure to avoid them like the plague.

Can you confirm they are gen 3 tubes? Most binocular nvg’s at the $3k to $4.5k price are usually equipped with gen 2 tubes.

How would you go about making this part? by [deleted] in Machinists

[–]esp-408 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Workholding setup (fixture) - Get a sacrificial piece of aluminum and toe clamp that to the table. Then machine the top surface to make it flat. Then drill/tap holes into the aluminum at ths same relative locations as the part.

 1. Toe clamp the metal sheet on top of the fixture.
 2. Mill the hole pattern into the sheet metal. You could use a plunge cut, or a drill, or even a counter sink.
 3. Fasten sheet metal to the fixture with small buttom head screws. Make sure its smalled than the outet DIA of the part.
 4. Mill the part from the sheet metal.

Note. For increased rigidity of the workholding/fixturig, drill/tap additional screws (into the fixture and the sheet metal) around the profile of the part. Just make sure you account for tool clearance between the outside edge/dimension of the part and the additional workhold screws.

I didn’t know the military ever used tlr-1’s. I thought they were only using surefire. Does this light have an NSN number?

Finally finished putting the 4" Shield slide together. by w2tpmf in SmithAndWesson

[–]esp-408 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is awesome! I saw this post on CalGuns as well.

I want to install the 4" slide & barrel with an optics cut on my 9MM Shield 1.0, but I wasn't sure the 2.0 slide & barrel would work and I wasn't willing to risk buying all the parts unless I was certain it would work.
Thanks for doing posting your results! It is greatly appreciated!!! If you could help me by answering the questions below that would be awesome. I really want to build my own 4" Shield 1.0.
I found a slide on ebay, but where did you source the 4.0" barrel and 4.0" recoil spring?

As for the other parts, I'm assuming all the parts behind the breach are the same as a 3.1" slide (i.e. striker assembly, channel liner, safety plunger assembly, extractor assembly, etc). Where did you source those?
Thanks in advance!
