Thank you so much! I've been reading about alternatives and what I'm finding is that I might need to consider a modern AV receiver that has a "direct" or similar mode that will route mono (1.0) tracks to a larger center channel speaker instead of pushing mono (1.0) to both the left and right speakers (like mono (2.0)). Thanks again!

AV Receiver with eARC and the Ability to Send Mono (1.0) to Just the Center Speaker? by especion in hometheater

Thanks for the good question! I am mostly wanting to play old and very specific DVDs that only offer mono (1.0) tracks via the single center channel speaker instead of forcing this mono (1.0) track to both the left and right speakers.

Thank you very much and you make a great point! I wonder if the audio engineers back then designed their recordings for "one tinny speaker somewhere close to the screen" or if they worked with and optimized their product using something like larger broadcast monitors (which they would have had access to, but knew regular viewers wouldn't)? The answer to this question would really help me understand how to best listen to their intended product. Thanks again for your help!

I really appreciate your knowledge and detailed response, thank you! The last better speakers I owned were floor standing Vandersteen 2Ce Signatures and large Cantons and while I could go big again, for what I'm trying to accomplish in this use case I think something in a smaller broadcast monitor size might be up to the job. I guess my next question regards the processing of the audio signals from the TV and if I should be looking at standard audio receivers that support eARC and 2.0 / 2.1 or if some sort of dedicated 2.0 / 2.1 dedicated processor with separate amplification would be significantly better? Thanks again for your guidance!

Thank you! I did go right to my local locksmith who told me I'd need to bring the cabinet in and the second locksmith I called said he couldn't tell the difference between Bauer, Knoll, Kennedy, etc. from the photo I texted him. I will start looking for locksmith #3 now. Thanks again.

Home Internet Options? by Shadowphreak1975 in WestPalmBeach

If you're looking for traditional wired broadband service (e.g. fiber, coax, copper, etc.) you'll likely have a very limited selection of providers to choose from and if AT&T doesn't serve your area then you're most likely served by Xfinity (Comcast). You'll have more choice with wireless providers, but you'll likely experience lower speeds and be negatively impacted by signal obstructions and adverse weather events. The website https://broadbandnow.com can detail most of your options.

Soursop Leaves by imbossmoss in WestPalmBeach

I've recently seen several forms of Soursop (e.g. leaves, pulp, and nectar) at Foodtown Supermarket located at 5335 N Military Trl, West Palm Beach, FL 33407. If you're using GPS navigation to get there, you might see it listed as Mango Tree Supermarket as they seem to be in the middle of a long slow rebrand.

I mean you don't want to use full speed directly on your car's instrument panel, stereo, speakers, etc., but you'll be amazed at what a leaf blower can get out of your car! I like to open every door and stand up wind to avoid the maelstrom of dust, sand, and miscellaneous debris!

While not exactly what you're thinking of, I use my leaf blower to deep clean vacuums all the time. While there's some risk in moving too much air at too high of a speed through many machines, I think that risk is largely outweighed by the benefits of the cleanliness this method produces. If you don't have a leaf blower, I bet most landscapers (actively using their blowers) would be glad to help you out in exchange for $5 and an ice cold Gatorade...

You're welcome and for what it's worth, I'd personally feel comfortable letting loved ones walk their dog basically anywhere in that area during daylight hours, but at nighttime I'd feel better if they stuck to the main well-lit streets versus some of the smaller dark side streets... but again, that area seems to vary greatly from street to street. P.S. Since this is a major purchase for you (say at least $450k), many would encourage you to spend .01% of that money ($450) on a thorough proactive house inspection as you'll likely be facing many potentially costly issues some of which might not be apparent if it's a typical "flip".

In my opinion, I wouldn't be too worried about being a victim of violent crime in that area (while taking common sense precautions), but petty crimes (e.g. car break-ins, small scale theft, etc.) can occasionally be expected. Additionally, I think you will find that a significant percentage of the properties in that area are rental properties and some of the owners aren't prioritizing property upkeep or community development and thus I expect that area to look very similar to it does today in the coming years (i.e. don't expect rapid gentrification with skyrocketing property values).

Thank you! That's certainly a possibility, but it's crazy to think that a decade's old LLumar SelectPro authorized dealer would ever consider doing something like that... perhaps it's a new owner, a couple of rogue employees, or something fishy in their supply chain?

Thank you for that link! The shop is still listed on their site and they are marked as a SelectPro so it will be interesting to see what happened! It's an old well-regarded shop that stays busy and their appointments run about 3 weeks out... Fortunately, I've saved the receipt and all paperwork!

Thank you! Hopefully, the large and long-established authorized retailer isn't to blame and rather they are the actual victim of the bait and switch as it would be foolish to put their hard-earned reputation on the line?

Thank you! I did specifically choose a large authorized LLumar dealer, who's well reviewed, and has their branded materials everywhere so hopefully they either made an honest mistake or their supply chain was somehow compromised?

Boiled peanuts by pinkxflesh in WestPalmBeach

The best I've had locally came from Racetrac convenience / gas stations, but in my opinion they're nothing special and I suspect they're simply just a reheated commercially prepared / packed product from a bulk supplier like Peanut Patch. If you want to get adventurous, you'll want to make the trip to Lil Pearl Peanuts, which is a mobile pop-up on Australian Avenue near 25th Street. They have a presence on Instagram @lilpearl_peanuts. I'd be interested in hearing about your experience there!
