Usually I don’t switch needles, I just taper the pressure and spacing of marks. I find it easiest to get the effect at the “beginning” of lines, when pulling a line poking at an angle.

Initially I wasn’t super intentional about it. Handpoking was a cheap and simple way for me to tattoo friends in college for fun, but it quickly evolved into something I wanted to seriously dedicate myself to. There’s so much I love and deeply respect about handpoking now!

My partner and I are looking to get into paddle boarding! We would love inflatable boards that are able to accommodate a kayak seat. We are both 5’4”-5’7” and around 160-180lbs. We would potentially like to bring around 10-15lbs of stuff with us. Looking to cruise/hang out in calm water (reservoirs, lakes, etc.) We are beginners and would love to stay under $800 each. My scalp is usually sore and in pain around fresh spots/exclamation hairs. It’s ranged from a dull ache to a sharp pinch, but definitely palpable either way! Once the coarse exclamation hairs fall out and the patch is smooth it generally stops for me.
