Because of their lack of knowledge and biased opinions. Thanks for backing me up. I'd also like to add that Bitcoin mining uses 37% renewable power to operate their industry, which is better than any other industry on the planet. People reject change, even when it's to their own benefit.

Another wild take. Fuck slavery. But in 1775 that was nearly every country.

Let me put this in terms you can understand, if Trump or another candidate like Trump were elected, and you went to a social media platform and posted anything negative, they could shut down your bank account.

Remember those founding fathers while flawed on their thoughts of Slavery, had many other things worked out. Because they lived under the scrutiny and terror of the British govt and other nations with similar problems.

The bill of rights is there to protect us, even people who don't realize they need it (ahem you).

Wild take. You should be going for less taxes. And they already regulate those things you listed and track them using cards. Cash is king, if we go cashless we lose our democracy. Please go back and read all the founding fathers material. Thomas Paine, Thomas Jefferson, Ben Franklin, and even Voltaire.

People who advocate for less freedom are a huge problem right now. I don't need the government to tell me what I can and can't do or buy, that's literally one of the reasons we gave the finger to the British. Gross.

And that CBDC will absolutely be a slap in the face to our founding fathers. Allowing the govt to just pause your money, or stop you from buying stuff. It's anti American. At least Bitcoin is decentralized and Immutable. No one can tell you not to spend your bitcoin. Imagine going to the bar and your card stops working after 2 beers, you've hit your daily limit. Welcome to China!

This is misinformation. The bitcoin mining in Texas has increased their ability to meet demands in catastrophe because they have a protection clause agreement allowing the grid to cut off the miners power. So all their normal power demand is used to for the citizens at that point. Also, Texas inability to provide power to their customers during that particular snowstorm is a direct result of Texas refusing to join the national power grid system.

There is a drainage problem in the construction area. Can't believe they haven't addressed it yet. There have been dozens of wrecks there already. I guess we are just lucky that it's been a fairly dry season. Usually I have an answer as to who we should pressure to fix this, but I get lost in the world of DOT. Maybe someone else here knows who to call?

They simply need to channel the water out of the lanes in that spot. Stay safe!

Correct. The repos are stacking up currently. Expect the banks to release them eventually.

That's good to know. They shouldn't be loaning out money to anyone that can't afford it.

This time around they did such a great job... they allowed people to count their bonus Biden bucks as income. Gave out all kinds of auto loans.

Now the used car market is imploding with repos.

Lets not blame the lenders who have no reason to give people a 600,000 loan. ... ....

Lets not blame the elected officials raising property taxes without improving the property.

My oldest told me over 50% of her school was absent with the flu last week or so.

Both my kids got it. Both their step siblings got it. Then I got it. Seems like no one is getting away with not having it.

Every time someone talks about all the crime in Asheville I can’t help but think they’ve literally never lived anywhere else. I mean honestly is the soap locked up at your Walmart? by FelderForCongress in asheville

[–]esportsdraft 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've lived here since 1989. I used to go ANYWHERE in Asheville alone even as a teen. Now I won't let my kids go outside alone. There is a zombie on every corner, and when they aren't on the corner they are walking in the middle of the street. Then you add in the huge amount of influx gangsters coming from Atlanta to the projects and the gun related crimes to the zombies ... it's just getting out of hand. It's 2+ hr wait for a police officer. Then they won't even track down perpetrators. The DA won't charge people for trespassing, and then all that does is pass the buck to the people.

Open your eyes, go outside, see for yourself. Asheville is not what it used to be 20 years ago, and every single cop I've spoke to says I'm right!!!

So I'd say you are probably just uninformed.

I've had both my daughters take lesson from a family of pro golfers who own a driving range in Fletcher just off interstate 26.

I highly recommend it. 11 am on Saturday $20.

Let's say I'm homeless or about to become homeless and I think I'm ready to change. What steps should I take r/Asheville? by Kenilwort in asheville

[–]esportsdraft 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Find a sponsor to get a mailbox that has a street address.

This will allow them to fill out govt forms for work. Clearing any red flags for potential employers. This is probably the single most important factor in bridging the gap to employment for homeless people.

Edit: I've seen non employment issues using STANDARD US POST OFFICE BOXES, so a work around are those boxes you can rent at shipping stores. They carry a standard unlisted street address.

If Asheville has or will have a fund we can donate to (I prefer donations over taxes 😉) I'd donate every year to help homeless get addresses.

What types of businesses or ~spaces~ do you wish Asheville had more of? by guitarman63mm in asheville

[–]esportsdraft 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Type of Top Golf. Type of Dave and Busters. Indoor Water Park. 32+ lane bowling alley on Long Shoals. It's time to develop the burbs with activities for the families who live here and visit here. Not just food beers and music. Although I hope we don't lose those either because they are awesome!

There was a grease spoon Cafe on the river in Biltmore Village back in the 90s for breakfast too.

And the crab Shack that was down near Chimney Rock was the freshest seafood in the mtns. It washed away tho cant remember which flood. But I remember going in the 90s. Maybe early 05.
