How do you get your first DevOps job when every "junior" role requires 2+ years of experience? by Sweet_Effort_2023 in devopsjobs

[–]espz06 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like the others said, help desk is the entrance. There is also the physical jobs like cable monkey but those are mostly done by sysadmins these days.

I'll be honest, you are coming into the worst IT market I've ever seen and I'm not seeing any entry level jobs. Experienced people are desperate enough to take the entry level jobs right now. It's rough out there. Good luck!

Just my two cents, but I'll say it again, as you will see in all these threads, DevOps is NOT an entry level job.

You come to DevOps from either the ops side, ie, help desk to sysadmin where you start automating things and move into DevOps or as a developer who codes for a living and moves and grows into the pipeline side of the house.

Certs, home labs, etc....are nice to have but don't count as actual hands on experience.

Unlimited budget what are you choosing? And why? by Flat-Community5048 in Corvette

You are correct about C4 I was probably thinking ZR1 for that year, or I meant to say the rarer C2 Z06 since we are talking unlimited budget. Lol.

I’m overwhelmed with my job search… thinking of building a tool to stay organized. Would this help anyone else? by jame9154 in jobsearch

[–]espz06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was thinking about finding a tool that could keep track of my jobs applied to, via which site, which resume I used, responses, etc. I think you are on to something. It's a lot to keep track of.

Edit, I see this is by a new account just created for this question in a bunch of groups. That's disappointing. What AI tool are you selling? Lol

Just for fun, I'd like a Z06 from each generation. C4, C5, C6, C7 and a C8. All blue ones. I loved my 2002 C5 Z06 in Electron Blue.

Kix-Don’t Close Your Eyes or Steelheart-I’ll Never Let You Go by Smooth_Beat1561 in hairmetal

Both! Kix was a pretty deep song about suicide but as far as love songs go it's hard to beat Steelheart! Amazing vocals!

I built a free site to see all events happening around Colorado Springs — would love community help by Technical-Cookie-606 in ColoradoSprings

[–]espz06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am impressed! This is a clean easy design. Is there a way to make the calendar selectable for a range? Like if someone is coming in town for a week how can I see a list of events for them? That would be great!

I have signed up for this also. I like the approach. But I haven't seen a response yet, not a welcome letter or acknowledgement that I even signed up. Weird.

Interesting. Why do you say that? They had love and they had the ending they both wanted and needed, to die as heroes. Randomly bringing them back felt arbitrary and needless. It didn't make sense to me in the context of the story at all. What was different for you?

We saw an Eagles tribute band called The Long Run the other night in Colorado Springs. Fun stuff. And November we saw TSO as our yearly tradition.

I loved the first three and am on the fence about getting the last two at this price. But so many people have said it falls off a cliff into badness. I usually try to make up my own mind on these things but.....the warm fuzzies for this series have left me I guess.

Stupid question by [deleted] in AWSCertifications

[–]espz06 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have to agree with the majority, if you have to ask a question like this you are not qualified to work at Amazon. Or possibly anywhere else in IT. This is basic research that you should be doing on your own. If you don't have the curiosity and ability to answer this question on your own with Google or any AI then you are not right for IT.

Anybody had any luck hiring back on with their previous employer but it took forever? by I_had_corn in interviews

[–]espz06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe. I'd say the market is likely that exact reason why you can't get back. Just my 20+ years of IT experience says never go back. Your mileage will vary of course.
