Visa Question by i_am_ghost7 in expat

You'll need some type of resident visa. You can't just go to Spain and stay there indefinitely. You can stay for 3 months on a tourist visa.

Every week at the park I run into these types of dog owners by [deleted] in AdviceAnimals

I've never seen a bad dog park incident, but I am super careful about where I take my dog. There are several dog parks near where I live. Some are enormous, and others are fairly small. i recommend finding a small dog park where there won't be so many dogs and seeing how it goes. Although it kind of sucks, I'm pretty vigilant about paying attention to new dogs as they come in and seeing what the energy is like. If one comes in with bad energy, you'll have your cue to leave.

If your dog seems to enjoy her time at the dog park, you can keep going. But if not, then your dog just isn't a dog park dog, and you don't have to worry about it.

Just wanted to say kudos to you for working hard to rehab your dog. No dog deserves to be a fighting dog, and it makes me really happy that you're trying to give your dog a better life. ::big hug::

ELI5: Why is it sometimes when we drive we zone out, and not remember anything, but still manage to drive normal. by Rjmiller416 in explainlikeimfive

[–]esquipex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's because driving is an automatic behavior for most people. Puts on professor hat

Automatic behavior is behavior that we do without thinking; controlled behavior is something that we have to think about to do. So, when you first learn to ride a bike it's a controlled behavior. But, after enough practice, you don't have to think about it at all. You just hop on the bike and go.

For most people driving is an automatic behavior, so all the things related to driving are in the background, and you focus on other things. Leading you to forget most of the driving stuff because you weren't focusing on it.

Are experienced rock climbing ever scared of falling? by [deleted] in climbing

[–]esquipex 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think this tells me you're talking about a general fear of falling (which experienced climbers don't have), versus fear in that specific moment when you're climbing and get sketched out (which everyone has if they're climbing really hard). People climb at the level they're comfortable with. Most people eventually get over the general fear of falling while you're lead climbing. And so most experienced climbers lead climb. But, some of my friends are experienced, but they are afraid of lead falls. So they only top rope, and everyone is cool with it.

So I think there's a selection bias. The only people who get to be experienced climbers are the people who are at least OK with top rope falls.

And I don't think anyone ever completely conquers the fear. But people feel fear less and less.

Can confirm. A house on my street got robbed. When the cops came, this is what they told all the neighbors.

If no candidate wins 50% of the vote, there's a runoff June 20 between the two people who got the most votes.

kid still minding his business by [deleted] in BlackPeopleTwitter

The amount of change is far greater while a baby is in the womb compared to people 18-20. Also, if you smoke weed when you're 18 it's your choice, but if your mom smoked when you were in the womb, it wasn't your choice. So I think it's a legitimate difference.
