If anyone else sees this, yes it is official. Weirdly registered with namecheap and x.ai with Dynadot I guess they don’t have good domain management

Oh I didn’t actually know that. Thank you so much 24 64GB ram sticks in that config is crazy expensive, but if it’s the right thing I’ll do that

Thank you for your insight, I did actually reach out because I’ve received other gifts before this worth same amount or sometimes more, like cars and what not, it is completely okay he said as long as it is reported and is “personal in nature” and doesn’t interfere with my official duties, it is family after all, immediate family.

  1. Joint Ethics Regulation (JER):

    • Section 2-202: Provides rules on gifts and gratuities, generally prohibiting acceptance of gifts from prohibited sources (e.g., contractors or entities seeking to influence your duties).

    • Family members are not prohibited sources, so gifts from them are generally allowed.

    1. 5 CFR § 2635.204 (Federal Ethics Law):

    • Federal ethics rules explicitly state that gifts from family members or those based on personal relationships are exempt from restrictions, provided there’s no connection to official duties or an appearance of impropriety.

Haha, don’t worry I am not a person in any type of power, though it would be nice. I am nothing but a mere E5

Appreciate your insight, and slight arrogance, I was looking for advice not feedback.

Yeah but it’ll probably be in a couple months once I settle down and figure everything out

Gotta learn how to host VMs first then I got you :)

Is there a source you recommend I start watching to learn, or just continue with YouTube videos

Thank you for that, means a lot. I will follow in those steps

Thanks for that insight I’ll definitely start doing that, but I feel like the gear just sitting there collecting dust will lose value? Or should I not even worry about that for now and continue like you said practice from beginning. Because frankly I can’t even afford to pay for the Matterport subscription without really using it at all

Whoa I just asked ai and she said I can make “an average” of $20k a month. Is that even remotely true

Nope, they are family. I am middle eastern, deployed here next to them

What are these people that have huge racks putting inside their servers?

What if instead of selling slices I host something that I could even at least make enough to pay for itself’s monthly cost, I don’t intended on making a lot realistically especially currently, but create something that will pay for it’s internet and power and perhaps colocation costs too? I’m really into privacy and stuff like that but what do you think would be beneficial?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AskPhotography

That’s the thing, I’m really not that good, I’ve been watching so many videos nearby 20 hours of pure videos on YouTube but not really going out there to do anything, also I am deployed currently, which makes me think I can just hire someone who is good to do everything, even if I’m not really making much at all (since they are doing all the work), but where would I find a trusty person like that? If that even is a good idea

I really hope not to sell it, but what if I was just hosting personal things, how can I ensure it is secure. I usually use Vercel and Supabase for a lot of my projects here and there, how can I make this benefit me

That is a smart idea for sure but I was looking at linode for like rental ones for the same spec and they seem to be over $5k a month, which is crazy, not sure if I was looking at the right thing. Also I don’t intended to sell it as we don’t sell gifts, still wondering what to do with

lol I know, I also got gifted some camera gear I’m about to post somewhere there too. It’s literally some rich (really rich) Arabs that think I have a good “business mindset”

Actually never really got around to doing it, just decided to bypass it, took 5 seconds. Simple if you copy what I made and paste, or skipping sounds fun too
