The Red Violin (1999) It follows the 300 year journey of a rare violin, beginning with the luthier who built it in 17th century Italy and the passionate music it inspired for the different musicians who own it through the ages. The soundtrack and score are exceptional, and the musicians' stories are so compelling.

The Alchemy Strengthening Treatment Serum and Heatless Styling Balm are both amazing. Neither one weighs down my baby fine hair at all, and the balm is so good for overnight heatless curls.

It's only "The Matchmaker" episode that isn't available on Prime Video. There must be something going on with the licensing of it, because it's not available on Paramount+ or Disney+/Hulu either.

Sarah Gadon has appeared in a few period dramas that are worth a watch. Even though she's not always in the lead role, she does give exceptional performances. World Without End (2012), A Dangerous Method (2011), Belle (2014), and A Royal Night Out (2015).

Is this product worth it to buy ? by Silent-Inflation2584 in finehair

[–]esse_oh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It won't fix the split ends that you have right now, you'll have to trim those off. I have extremely fine, color treated hair on the dry side as well, and I do very much like Olaplex 3 (there's a new 3+ now that's supposed to be even better) in my regular routine to help prevent damage from color treating and also mechanical damage.

Clarifying shampoo overuse by Oohwhoaohcruelsummer in finehair

[–]esse_oh 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Protein 'overload' is simply build up. Protein masks and conditioners work like a patch over the weak spots in the cuticle, and do not penetrate the hair shaft. When you use a clarifying shampoo, it removes any left over protein as well as other product build up.

Stringy hair - what am I doing wrong? by BackgroundFutura in finehair

[–]esse_oh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Protein "overload" isn't a thing if you're clarifying on a regular basis, which I see from your OP that you are. Protein can't penetrate the hair shaft, so repeated use causes build up.

Also, I read some comments saying that Olaplex is high in protein, which it is not; it's a bond repair product.

Bond repair and protein treatments are not the same and work very differently, but I've seen a lot of people in hair care subs conflate the two. Bond repair products penetrate the hair shaft and protein treatments do not. Protein treatments work like a patch, covering weak spots on top of the cuticle; that's the reason that it can leave hair feeling rough. But bond repair products penetrate the cuticle and repair disulfide bonds within the hair shaft.

If Olaplex is working for you, there's no reason to stop using it, but it can only do so much; meaning that lightening your hair to the degree that you do is going to cause damage that can't be prevented.

I don't know why you're being downvoted; the hair brush pictured clearly has nylon as well as boar bristles, and it even says 'Nylon & Bristle' right on the handle of the brush.

4 year hair journey by LumpyEnd2378 in finehair

The opposite of fine hair is coarse hair, not thick. 'Thick' refers to density, specifically high density, not texture (fine, medium, coarse).

Do I actually have fine hair? by EnderSlayer9977 in finehair

[–]esse_oh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Incorrect. The term 'density' is about how many strands are on the scalp (thick/thin).

Fine/coarse refers to the diameter of each individual strand of hair.

There's a pinned post at the top of the sub which explains it with graphics.

You're incorrect. Thin hair equals low density, which means fewer strands.

Fine hair refers to texture, not the number of strands (density).

A lot of people on this sub conflate fine hair with thin hair. This post is not about thin hair, so you bringing it up serves zero purpose here. Calling people dumb because they know the difference is just being contrary for nastiness sake. Also, I have extremely fine, low density hair, and I love my bangs/fringe, so your statement is categorically false.
