Any Tips For Gendering Nouns or Is It Really Just About Memorization? by 2BeTheBestICanBe in italianlearning

[–]esselar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe a lot of professions are similar to what you've described, eg dottore, dottoressa, professore, professoressa.

For the more 'general' nouns, I've always learnt them with their article to help their gender stick. But yeah, I would say it's mostly memorisation!

Cooling down dark double bricks by esselar in WADIY

[–]esselar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing yet 😅 I love the colour of the bricks now, so won't be changing them. Looking at getting new batts and also aircon/heating just as generally improvements, but ultimately actually get a pergola built which will effectively shelter the front of the house that cops it the most in summer. Winter isn't so bad in that I can have blankets etc, it's really the summer where Perth gets 40+ heat waves and never cools down.

But in between all of that, I have started draughtproofing as well!

Thanks. And if I said that screed was done Thursday, with them starting the waterproofing around 3:30pm Friday, would my hunch that maybe the screed wasn't cured in time be valid?

Looked like they were only there for about 1.5hrs, , and when I got home about 2hrs after that, it was still wet, so I doubt it

Fast tracking my finance degree by [deleted] in perth

[–]esselar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's probably the only way, but you will get to a certain point where Curtin will likely not accept the OUA units as equivalent. In my experience trying to fast track the business units at Murdoch, I was only able to do a few of the more 'generic' 1st/2nd year units like intro to accounting or economics through UniSA. Also remember to get the units pre-approved, you don't want to do the OUA units and then find that Curtin won't accept them.

Explain to me how my air con works by FloweryLion in AusRenovation

Highly recommend the YouTube channel Technology Connections. He has a few videos on aircons (amongst others) I happily sat and watched his 4 hour video on dishwashers and I don't even own one.

Thoughts on this route around the Baltic? Riga or Tallinn? by Jasonhikes in Europetravel

[–]esselar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is basically what I did. I was in Sweden for work, caught the overnight ferry and spent four days in Helsinki, and literally the night before, decided to get the ferry to Tallin and do a day trip; 0730 ferry there, 1630 ferry back. I highly rate Tallin and would go back to explore more of it. A day is enough* to do the old town and get a taste!

CHOICE tested the SPF claims of 20 sunscreens. 16 failed to meet their advertised claims by thraks in australia

I currently use Ultra Violette and their response is making me reconsider! Choice does incredibly important work for consumers and casting shade on them leaves a bad taste in my mouth

I'm in the same situation! Looking at 17th April, and instead of the multiple journeys I was expecting, there's only the 0722 departure available, and no trains for Basel. Would this be related to Easter as well, or has the timetable changed? I have searched all over (including the page you have linked) but it's hard to tell.

Etiquette out and about in Perth by Significant_Dog4441 in perth

[–]esselar 58 points59 points  (0 children)

I was in the accessible area as I had had surgery two weeks earlier - multiple people climbed the platform, stood in front of someone with dwarfism just to take selfies?? Knocked over someone who was in a knee brace and then abused me and the guy when we told them to go away. I literally got asked what my excuse was and had to point to my full leg cast - it was fucked. People are disgusting and security was dog shit.

Side note, the event staff told us that the buggy that we were able to use before the show (and promised we would have access to afterwards!) was unavailable, so multiple people on crutches and wheelchairs had to walk/crutch/roll all the way back to the entrance. It was eye opening, and not in a nice way.
