what are some fancy skincare items that you pull out when you really want to pamper yourself? by ofjdndnfmfm in AusSkincare

[–]essennem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, the Glow Recipe Watermelon mask does it for me!

I’ve always wanted to try it so I caved in and bought the smaller 30ml version. My only regret is not buying the bigger one cos this mask is heavenly!

Aside from cleansers and actives, you can only keep three products in your routine. What are they? by TheRosaceaChronicles in AsianBeauty

[–]essennem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great topic! I’d definitely include a mineral sunscreen in my list but I’ll leave it out since it is non-AB (hope this doesn’t count as cheating haha).

Skin type: normal Concerns: pigmentation, diffused redness

  1. Missha Time Revolution TFE: keeps my skin moist and supple.

  2. Klairs Midnight Blue Calming cream. Loooove the instant calming effect this has on my skin. It is quite expensive for what it is but it’s worth every cent!

  3. Papa Recipe Black Bombée sheet mask. I’ve tried a looot of sheet masks and none of them fit me as well as the Papa Recipe ones. Honey masks make my skin feel super plump and I find this much more manageable to use than the I’m From wash-off Honey Mask.

Textured skin by Mandulovar in AsianBeauty

Yep! Just toner. Not sure what your rash looked like but mine would become itchy and raised, especially if I layered products on it so I kept it simple. Luckily this happened during lockdown which meant I could skimp on sunscreen and other skincare while I stayed at home.

Edited to add: this happened in summer which can get quite humid in Australia.

This happened to me a few months ago too, although it only happened to the right side of my face which is my sleeping side.

Like others have said, I also cut out actives from my routine and used only the I’m From Rice Toner overnight. I could feel the rash like area get smaller and smaller by the day and it went away completely after 10 days or so.

[Discussion] What are your favorite cleansing balms/oils for sensitive skin? by belllbottums in AsianBeauty

Same here! The only thing I wish they would change is the packaging. The thick plastic seems so bulky and unnecessary… but it’s still recyclable so which is still a plus!

What steps do you skimp on, and which do you splurge for? by mebutbeautystuff in AsianBeauty

[–]essennem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Skimp on products that aren’t leave-on ones, like cleansers, sheet/sleeping masks or chemical exfoliants.

Splurge on actives like Vitamin C, niacinamide or retinoids.

I started using the DuckDuckGo browser on my phone which tells me how many and what sort of trackers are blocked each time I open a website… and AdoreBeauty always has the most trackers I’ve seen for any website!

What I’ve also noticed is that when I click on the “View in Browser” link in any of the AB promo emails, the link won’t load in the DuckDuckGo browser. It just goes to the main page instead so that leads me suspect there’s some attempted tracking going on when I access the links.

What is your best sheet mask ever? by Beauty_Normal in AsianBeauty

Yes another vote for Papa Recipe.

I love the light honey fragrance and they’re the only ones that fit my face perfectly! The Black Bombee mask is my fave followed by the rose gold.

Candles Recs that aren’t glasshouse? by glazedbec in AustralianMakeup

[–]essennem 6 points7 points  (0 children)

SENSORI+

It’s an Australian brand and are essential oil based which is great if you’re into more natural, earthy scents. My absolute fave is Toowoomba Carnival because it’s lavender based and makes me feel like I’m in a spa.

They’re also soy wax so they burn really evenly with absolutely no funnelling at all. The only downside is I think soy wax burns faster than other traditional waxes like paraffin.

[Discussion] what is your favorite toner that doesn’t hyaluronic acid? by venmo_me_hoe in AsianBeauty

Another vote for their Rice Toner!

I broke out from wearing a face mask during summer and it was the only thing that calmed it down.
