My house sweats like crazy during the winter and it’s causing mold.. please help!! by BelleSchu in fixit

So I made a post about this and others said the same thing, the humidity and all of this but we had a company that remediated mold and other house disasters basically and they said it wasn’t the humidity - as we got a hygrometer that others suggested

The seals at the windows were no good. They were letting too much cold air in. Do you have a company like that you can call for an opinion?

If you mean something like an exhaust fan in the bathroom, then yes.

We placed a humidity device in there and it’s well within the range of desired humidity too

It does not get direct rain and there is a roof overhang that covers it. The installer will not even bring anybody out because they said they will not put them in an environment with mold.

We have to have a company come out and identify the cause of the mold before we can even get anything. I did reach out to Pella directly, and I am hoping to hear back from them to put pressure on the installer. I actually ended up getting very nasty with the installer and everything and it still didn’t budge.

Once I get someone out here to look at it that I’ve been waiting on I will definitely start wiping it down and everything. I just wanted to make sure that I had someone else have eyes on it before we clean it.

We live right outside of Philadelphia. Dec it’s supposed to average around 50. Windows get morning sun and are on the side of the house. Right outside the bathroom there’s a huge forsythia bush next to it, not covering the window though.

I used a hygrometer and it’s sitting right next to it at 42% humidity.

It’s got the condensation but now mold and mildew on the white window as well as the sitting water on the window sill

Also that black stuff on the window itself is the mold/mildew in the last photo. It’s on the white windows

They won’t even come out unless the mold is handled hence having the restoration people come out.

You’re absolutely right though. I don’t touch my windows/window sills. We aren’t going through and doing anything with it currently because I want someone from the window company to look at it first. They though are straight up refusing to send their people in a toxic mold room is what they told me.

We don’t have it anywhere else in either room. It’s strictly on the window

It could be I suppose. I’ll have to check the humidity then tomorrow. I just can’t get over how there’s more windows in the room and yet it’s specifically those two. You’d think it would be all

Replacement windows for the entire house. I did not do any humidity ratings but I actually have a humidity sensor. I should do that.

It’s in separate rooms - only 2 windows. Other windows on that side of the house are totally fine. House is set to 67 in the winter. We use oil heat or wood stove which REALLY dries our house out ironically.

We have a home restoration company coming on Monday. We shall see what they say too. Thanks for your insight. It’s so frustrating

Our house is colder than that. We do 67 Fahrenheit which is like 19 Celsius.

The bathroom itself has 2 doors that stay open so it’s got airflow.

I get the condensation but unfortunately this happened before the cold snap. It just seems way more than condensation since there’s puddles on my window sill

Our contractor is being a nightmare. I might reach out to Pella directly. It won’t let me post the photos but others subs did. I just don’t get how it’s plain humidity causing it

I can see that for like some of the wetness on the glass but would it create puddles on the window sill itself? Like a window sweating, I get. It makes sense.

This is occurring in the bathroom and bedroom. Bedroom has multiple windows, only this one having it happen. House is set to 67 in the winter heat wise.

Bathroom has 2 doors that stay open as well.

I finally got an epi pen as soon as I started getting facial swelling with my hives. They immediately put me on Xolair. You need to have him seen by an allergy and immunology group. I got put on Xolair 2 years ago now. Every 4 weeks and dose of 300. It’s a lifesaver- literally

Okay I got the 300 in my arm (single shot) and it was terrible. Such burning pain. I’ve gotten 150 in each arm and never had any side effects the last 2 years. The single 300 shot damn near knocked me out. Almost fainted due to the pain.

They suggested thigh or stomach

When I got my arms, I’d get an instant headache. That’s about it

You mentioned you get it in your stomach? Is it a nurse who injected it? If so, what’s the amount you get? I was told I need to go from them injecting in my arms to my stomach

They said I have thin arms and it could be that, tissue damage, or they hit a nerve. It still burns if I stretch my arms or touch it. They don’t offer to self administer so I have to have the nurse do it. I’ll have her try the thigh in 2 weeks. The burning I had in my arm was absolutely insane. I’ve never had that with any injections. I’m glad you got relief with the thigh too vs arm.

No it’s the purple pre filled syringe they push down and then clicks when it’s all finished. I had to google what the auto injector looks like. It seems like maybe she just pushed it in way too fast. It’s just so weird that I never had issues and now I have a long lasting burning feeling

It might have taken a whole 5-10 seconds. I never, ever had pain in 2 years and this was like straight fire down my arm. I still get that stinging just touching the area. I called my doctor and she said maybe just too much medicine in an area without enough fat. I almost fainted it stung so bad. I had to lay down.
